Show Hilltop Times April 6, 2006 508TH AIRCRAFT SUSTAINMENT WING AFMC award winners Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Outstanding Aircraft Maintenance Award for the Supervisor of the Year Senior Master Sgt. John Weimer was awarded the 2005 Air Force Material Command Lt. Gen Leo Marquez Outstanding Aircraft Maintenance Award for the Supervisor of the Year. Lt. Gen. Marquez commanded the Ogden Air Logistics Center from July 1981 to July 1983, and then served as deputy chief of staff for Logistics and Engineering at Headquarters Air Force. He retired Aug 1,1987. His hope was to create an award that would specifically recognize the accomplishments of maintainers and that hope became a reality with the award, named in his honor. The award is given to airmen who have demonstrated the highest degree of sustained job performance, job efficiency and results, job knowledge and direct sortie generation in Aircraft, Munitions/Missile and Communications-Electronics Maintenance. "(Chief Select) Weimer is a dedicated leader, with unequaled F-16 technical expertise, and exemplifies a superior senior NCO," said Herman Raiff, director of the 508th's F-16 Weapon Support Division. "He inspires the best from all who work around him and puts the needs of his fellow airman ahead of himself. On a 1 to 10 scale, he is an 11 and is truly deserving of this prestigious award!" "Literally hundreds of people play roles in the accomplishments considered for major command recognition. Airman Sanders was recognized in her nomination package for: • Serving in an NCO role and meticulously managing a $10 million full spectrum pharmacy inventory for Utah's busiest pharmacy. • Single-handedly processing 100 pharmaceutical orders with accuracy; ensured 100 percent timely customer support. • Sorting through 300 catalog records to maximize order accuracy and expediting $40,000 in less than a week. • Organizing loss/shipment of more than 12.6 thousand line items to 17 installations and saved the Air Force more than $21,000. "She has always been an outstanding Airman, she excels in her job and it shows," said Staff Sgt. Alison Valentz, Airman Sanders' supervisor. "She was the obvious choice for the award. She is a very motivated and dedicated worker. Give her a task and she gets it done." "I was very honored to win AFMC Medical Materiel Airman of the Year," Airman Sanders said.
