Show 10 Hilltop Times March 16,2006 Hill sergeants promoted to E-8 AF honors Hill member for cultural diversity efforts BY BILL ORNDORFF 309th Maintenance Wing The Air Force has honored Honda Reynolds for her work with an Ogden Air Logistics Center special emphasis program offering employment possibilities to minority employees. Mrs. Reynolds received the 2006 Air Force Distinguished Equal Employment Opportunity Award for the Asian American/Pacific Islander Employment Program. She was notified of the award March 13 by Don Cazel, Ogden ALC deputy director. She will receive congratulatory letters from the Secretary of the Air Force and the commander of Air Force Materiel Command, along with a plaque. "It's such an honor and privilege to be able to accept this award on behalf of my fellow Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders at Hill," Mrs. Reynolds officer. She has served as the AAPIP Manager since May 2004, and is a member of the Installation Equal Employment Opportunity Committee. She maintains close liaison with the chief of the Affirmative Employment Branch by attending Special Emphasis Program Manager meetings and coordinating AAPIP activities. Planned this year for May 18 in Centennial Park, the festival features ethnic food, dance and musical performances and martial arts demonstrations. Proceeds from the festival go towards educational scholarships. The Air Force award category honors personnel who have contributed significantly to the employment and advancement of minorities or women. Nominees must have clearly demonstrated their contributions through training programs, community involvement, effective recruitment, increased representation of minorities and women, positive management involvement, and cultural awareness. Hill's selectees are below. The complete list is available for viewing on the Air Force Personnel Center Web site at www. afpc.randolph.af.mil/eprom/. The board, which convened Jan. 30 to Feb. 17, considered 15,104 master sergeants for an 8,63 percent select rate. Last year's selection rate was 9.19 percent. The average score for those selected was 661.37 with an average time in grade and time in service of 4.42 and 20.22 years respectively.
