Show arville mckellar died from injuries anille arille mckellar the 12 year old son of the late peter mckellar met with an accident on wednes day morning which caused him to lose his life the boy along with a couple of other youngsters of about the same age tried to climb up on the R G W freight train as it was running at a low rate of speed in the eastern outskirts of the camp the other boys succeeded in getting upon one of the cars but young me kellar izellar lost his hold and fell one pair of trucks passing over his right leg just below the knee and also cutting the big toe off his left foot the trainmen and others who v ho happened to be near the scene of the accident picked the boy up and brought him to the R RO G W depot in this city where dr howell attended him the rio grande railway company made the boy as comfortable as possible in a box car which was taken direct to salt lake ba b one of the engines which was in the yard bard here at the time of the accident two of the boys uncles john and hugh me bellar rellar b ellar accompanied him to the L D S hospital where the leg was amputated the lad showed wonder ful nerie neme and scarcely whimpered even when the pain was vas the most severe A message announcing the boy s death was receive received here dhere yester day the boa bos s father died a couple of years ago and the mother has since shown a disposition to let her child rn ren shift for themselves they have been cared for by relatives and hugh mckellar an uncle v as preparing to legally adopt the boy who met with such a horrible accident on wednes day it is not an unusual sight to see small boys jumping on and off moving trains in the railroad yards in eureka and the other camps of the district the employees of the railroad corn panics pat are am kept busy driving them off the cars and warning them of the danger to which they are needlessly exposing themselves the distressing accident this week should be warning to the boys and to their parents |
