the board announced Frift day This decision was reached Thursday at the regular monthly meeting Dr Garland H Pace superintendent of the hospital was appointed to confer with the state budget department in this regard Dr Pace Went to Salt Lake City Friday Much criticism has been hurled t the present officials and board as a result of this wage cut which they do not deserve Mr Redd stated Efforts have been made in the past by the present officials and board to have this cut restored but action has been postponed on tjie grounds a blanket raise in the wages of all state employes probably would be made soon Mr Redd reported Efforts of two local members of the board William H Boyle anti Mrs Francis G Callahan to have the medical service program for employes rescinded two years ago also restored resulted in considerable argument at Thursday's meeting Mr Redd stated Dr W R Calderwood of Salt Lake City another member strenuously opposed the proposal of Mr Boyle to restore this service declaring such a program was unfair to the medical practitioners of Utah county and the state A compromise was finally settled upon in which it was agreed that the employes would be treated for minor ailments but that no home calls or surgical treatment would be extended Mr Redd stated Relief Marchers Protest PWA Pay TOOELE — One hundred members Mine Mill and of local No Kmelter Workers' union which is the union of the unemployed of Tooele marched on the c&unty F E R A office here Thursday in protest against the $44 monthly wage which it is understood will be paid under the new W P A
