| Show NICHI TO FACE JORY tennessee authorities Dete minei that members of mob shall be severely punished ten men are under arrest for the murder of calta n rankin and it is hoped to secure colv action of every member of the band memphis tenn what may happen aa as a result of the investigation ol 01 night rider depredations in the northwestern section of this state Is a matter of conjecture W with ith the con of the circuit court tor for ohio county in special session at union city formally to investigate the death of quentin rankin who was killed by a night rider band in the vicinity of Reel toot foot lake that section will be under complete mil tary domi nation five companies of the state national guard will be at the disposal ol 01 colonel tatom to aid the militia the adjoining counties have been drawn on for posses of picked men in the Reel foot lake district the lake itself Is the source of contention it was asserted by those living in the vicinity that it was their right to ply their vocation as fishermen in the water ater without molestation while the owner of the land upon which it Is situated took an opposite view in the courts the latter the western tennessee land company of which captain rankin and colonel R Z taylor of trenton were the organizers and are largely interested were upheld then fol followed loved night rider warn ings threatening death to those who opposed the visnes of the band it was upon the first visit in many months to the lake region that captain rankin was killed of a number of men arrested ten are being held and it is promised gromi sed that when the grand jury Is convened sufficient evi dence will be furnished to secure the indictment of every member of the night riders organization the sessions of the court will be under military protection |
