Show N MIRIE N S HE ON operators and mine workers fail to reach agreement at the butte conference ten thousand men are involved in strike which Is result of the action of mine owners in re wages from 10 to 15 cents per day butte mont resulting from the allure failure of the coal mine operators and mine workers to reach an agreement at a conference which was held in n this city all of the coal mines in the state of wyoming and in control of the mine operators association of wyoming were closed down monday night and will remain closed for an indefinite period ten thousand are involved in the strike which Is the result of the ac tion of the mine owners association in reducing wages from 10 to 15 cents per day all the principal mines in the state of wyoming are closed down which means all of the mines where the workmen are organized sed ahe principal mines affected by the strike are at rock springs cumber land hanna and superior employing 5 men and those of other corn com panics at kemmerer oakley dia dietz kool Carne monarch and smaller camps employ ing an additional men the amount of wages involved Is about 30 daily the dispute leading up to the strike I 1 as been under discussion for more than two months culminating in a final conference at butte mont during the past week until noon mon day it was hoped that an agreement could be effected but both the oder acors and the representatives of the miners refused to concede a point and the order tor for the night shifts to refuse to go to work was then issued 1 ahe be miners at the camps monday night carried home their tools evidently in preparation for a strike of indefinite duration |
