raymond illinois is again in operation the ca cage e and cave cable which had been in the sump at the raymond illinois mine ever since the accident to the engine several weeks ago were hoist ed to the surface on sunday the cable was of course damaged and will not be used again but the cage cage 0 N was as in splendid condition the drop of about 1600 1500 feet to the bottom of the shaft not ha ing damaged it to any extent during the enforced shut down of the mine considerable water alcum accum ini mi underground and the hoisting of this water u ater commenced on tuesday manager J 0 sullivan expects to tz tale up development work again upon the 1500 level within the next few
