If you did not use the services they offer, you would be left to the elements of the weather, unable to live without inevitably becoming sick. If the necessities of life were shut off, your life sources would dry up in a matter of hours or days. Why is nothing being done about poor people? They have to cope with all the calamities of big business including things they cannot control effectively without a continuous money supply. Utilities, for example. The person is not able to pay for repair on faulty equipment which has a way of breaking down at the _ most undesirable times. Thus setting them back in the struggle to reach a comfortable living. During the time it takes to obtain the money or assistance, the electricity, gas, water or added taxes have been wasted. They did not need the facility operating all the time. So for 5, 15, or 30 days this precious energy is wasted. Responsibility to pay for this energy that slipped through their fingers and which they were not able to stop, rests on their shoulders. Over a period of time these extra amounts added to their bill puts the household in the red. They put off payments of other bills and eventually find one_or all of their utilities shut off until they pay the sum in full. This again leaves them for a period of days before money is available. Who is responsible if someone dies or gets sick because these individuals could not earn enough to meet the high cost of living? What if they get behind on home taxes?
