Taught by local and visiting Utah Musical Theatre professionals, campers learn all aspects of stage production from acting, voice, and movement; to directing, design, marketing, and management. Held at Peery’s Egyptian Theater during UMT’s residence, “Kids Act Up” offers an insider’s view of theater production through demonstrations, workshops, and rehearsals; and culminates in a showcase performance on the Egyptian Theater stage. The camp takes place weekdays August 4 through August 22. “As the Wasatch Front’s premiere musical theatre producer, Utah Musical Theatre inaugurated “Kids Act Up” as a natural extension of our commitment to our community’s cultural foundation,” says Bruce Cohen, Artistic/Managing Director of UMT. “Now, with the addition of our special partnership with Peery’s Egyptian Theater, we can offer young artists the chance to learn from some of Utah’s most skilled professionals in one of Utah’s finest theater facilities.” For more information, call 801-395-3345, or email us at peerysegypt@weber.edu Free Summer Activities at the Ogden Valley Branch Library Reading Programs Registration begins June 9 for READiculous, the Ogden Valley Branch Library’s summer reading program. Parelli Three Star Instructor to Host Local Clinic Doreen Matheson of Lund, Nevada will be offering a two-day Level One horsemanship clinic in Eden on August 1 and 2. Doreen has been a visiting instructor to the area for three years. She recently received her three-star rating in the Parelli PNH instructor program. A well informed and highly qualified group, Parelli Endorsed Instructors are continuously guided by Pat Parelli and his Premier Instructors. They keep progressing with their horsemanship, and update their knowledge every year. It is a very proud and dedicated team. What is a three star Parelli instructor? The answer to that question starts back ten years ago when Pat Parelli realized that to be able to help more people and more horses, he had to have help. Not just any help. It had to be people who had studied long and hard with him, who loved people, who had a desire to do what it took to be able to teach his system. This was the birth of the Parelli Instructor Program. Come meet Doreen, a 3-Star certified instructor, and get a concentrated introduction to the Partnership Level (Level 1) of Parelli Natural Horsemanship. Start developing your Partnership” on the ground with the Seven Games. The focus will be on safety and basic horsemanship skills. Learn to understand the horse’s point of view and communicate in the horse’s language. Over the years, the Instructor Program has developed and now has qualified instructors in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Many began as part time instructors, and enjoyed the process and its success so much that they now teach full time. In January 2002, The Parelli STARRating System was released. This new program means it will be easier for Parelli customers to know what their instructor is capable of doing. It also lets aspiring instructors know what it takes to become certified by Pat Parelli. The program reveals the level of horsemanship, time spent studying with Pat, additional horse-specialist certificates, particular abilities with groups and audiences, and more. Reaching a 4-Star status and above is a very rare occurrence, and to which only a very few instructors are invited. Doreen will be available from 5:00 to 8:00 each evening after the clinic for private ($75.00/hour), shared(two people @ $40.00/hour per person), or group lessons(35 people @$35.00/hour per person). Official PNH assessments for Levels 1 and 2 are also available. Parelli equipment, videos, lesson packets, etc will also be available.
