We had a tremendous amount if hours donated by coaches, referees, parents, towns/parks, churches, those who maintain fields, pay our bills, register the players, etc. We could not have pulled off another successful season without the great leadership provided by LeiLani Gauchet. She has donated countless hours of her time to ensure that all AYSO families have the opportunity to enjoy a great sport. Our thanks to you all, and to LeiLani! Trusting in Trusts Parents of minor children often include trust provisions in their wills, hoping that the trusts will never be needed. But trusts have many other uses as well. Here are some of the planning opportunities trust may offer: Give yourself a break. You can create a revocable living trust to manage your property now and in the future. With a revocable trust, you can change—or even dissolve—your trust at any time. Even if you enjoy managing your assets yourself, consider establishing a living trust to handle your financial affairs should you become incapacitated. Make that trust irrevocable. Do you support an elderly parent, a child with special needs, or a favorite charity? If so, you could create a trust to continue that support should anything happen to you. These trusts are often irrevocable— meaning they can’t be changed or canceled after they’re established. Fund your trust with life insurance for added peace of mind. Are you concerned that your loved ones may not be able to successfully manage a large amount of money? A trust could help. You can set up a trust to own one or more insurance policies on your life. When you die, the insurance proceeds would be paid to the trust to be managed as you have directed for the trust beneficiaries you have chosen. Note: This information should not be used as a basis for legal and/or tax advice. In any specific case, the parties involved should seek the guidance and advice of their own legal and tax counsel.
