Letters to the Editor Ogden Opera Guild’s “Chocolate Affair” a Success Many thanks for the publicity The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS gave the Ogden Opera Guild concerning our fundraiser, “A Chocolate Affair” held on January 27. The proceeds from this year’s event enables us to sponsor 100 students from Morgan County Schools, their chaperones, and cost of buses so they can attend the final dress rehearsal of Utah Opera’s production of “Madame Butterfly” on March 8, 2001. The proceeds from this year’s “Chocolate Affair” and last year’s event also enables us to sponsor the production of the final performance of Utah Opera’s “Ballad of Baby Doe” in May, 2001. The Ogden Valley Branch Library Announces Student Art Exhibit The Ogden Valley Branch Library is hosting an art exhibit for the students of Valley Elementary School. The exhibit will hang from March 9 through April 9 and will include an “Opening Reception” for the students and their families and friends on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and awards announced. Students who wish to participate may submit one drawing or painting, using any medium (pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, crayon, markers, pastel, watercolor, or acrylic). Each entry should be mounted on a poster board and labeled with the artist’s name, age, address and phone number on the back. All sizes, up to a full poster board size (22” x 28”), are acceptable. The artwork is due on February 28 and can be turned into the teachers at Valley, or brought to the library. Anyone wishing to contribute to cash awards for the exhibit may send a check to the Ogden Valley Branch Library care of Suzie Wood, Valley Branch Library. At the end of the exhibit all the art will be returned to the students at the school. The library staff hopes this will be a fun and exciting event for all the students at Valley.
