Johansen, 87, passed away at her home Friday, August 27, 2021. She was born November 14, 1933 in Lenore Johansen Spring City, Utah, the daughter of Reid H. and Anna E. Acord Allred. She married her high school sweetheart Jerald R. Johansen March 9, 1956 in the Manti, Utah Temple. Together they created a full life of love, joy, and service. Lenore grew up in Spring City, Utah where she enjoyed being the little sister to her beloved older siblings. In Sanpete (“down home”) she sang alto in a well-known quartet, attended dances at the town hall, and created lifelong friendships. She was intensely proud of her roots and returned as often as she could to share memories and grab a sip of water from the natural spring. Lenore attended North Sanpete High School and Snow College and worked in Salt Lake City before she was married. Jerry’s education and career in the Church Education System led the family to Idaho, California, and, ultimately, Ogden, Utah where they remained for over 50 years. Lenore’s greatest joy was her home and family. She worked hard to ensure that her home was filled with warmth, love, music, and humor—and she never left the house with dishes in the sink. Lenore was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various positions throughout her life, including in Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary presidencies. She also enjoyed serving two missions and working in the temple with Jerry later in life. Never one to pass up a sign-up sheet, she could be counted on to help with anything from road shows to funeral luncheons, and canning assignments to chapel cleanings. But her true gift was her faith in Jesus Christ and her practical ability to apply gospel principles in her everyday life. Lenore loved people and was genuinely interested in the lives of others. With a twinkle in her eye and a witty remark, she could make anyone feel like an instant kindred spirit. Children, grandchildren, and loved ones of all kinds will forever cherish her unfailing advice, Rook games, stories, handwritten cards, and unconditional love. Lenore is survived by her children: Diane (C. Kimball) Bott, Alan J. (Christine) Johansen, Blake R. (Deborah) Johansen, Valerie (Mark) Kendell, Mark R. (Jill) Johansen, and Laura (Jed) Southwick; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald R. Johansen, and a grandson. A viewing for friends and family was held Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Old Post Road Meetinghouse: 5191 Old Post Road, Ogden, under the direction of Leavitt’s Mortuary. Graveside service and interment followed at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The service may be viewed at rasmussenmortuary.com live or for up to 60 days thereafter. Dale Eldredge Grant Jr. September 9, 1939 ~ September 2, 2021 Thursday, September 2, Dale Eldredge Grant Jr, beloved father, grandfather, haberdasher, coach, cowboy, and dear friend Dale Grant Jr. to all, passed away at the age of 81, surrounded by his family. Dale was born September 9, 1939 in San Francisco, California to Dale Eldredge Grant Sr. and Patricia Fern Collard Grant. As a young man, Dale enjoyed his life in Huntsville, Utah, riding horses, swimming across Pineview Reservoir, fishing, and playing baseball for the town team. Beginning at nine years of age, he spent several summers working with his grandfather, W. O. Collard, and uncles herding sheep in the mountains above Coalville. His family referred to that area as “The Herd.” For years thereafter, everyone in the family called it “the sheep herd” and Dale shared it with family and friends, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and camping whenever he could make time to be there. Gardening, raising hay, and taking care of everything was his passion. Dale truly believed in being a “steward” over his land. These thoughts merged with his love for our land and country as he always brought his family to Huntsville for the Independence Day festivities and especially their famous “Patriotic Program.” Nobody sang the National Anthem as proudly as our father, Dale—always with a tear in his eye. Dale, a.k.a. “Chico” to many, attended Olympus High School where he started on the basketball, baseball, and football teams and received the first state of Utah “Sanky Dixon” award given to the most “all-around” athlete. He was awarded a scholarship to play college football as a running-back at Brigham Young University. Following BYU, he studied at the University of Utah. For years after university life, he loved spending summers playing semi-pro fastpitch softball in Salt Lake City and throughout the west. As a father, he coached all his sons. One of his favorite sayings was, “every day, in every way, we’re getting better and better!” Dale loved to compete positively in everything he did. Professionally, Dale built a career in the clothing and fashion Industry. His first job was in downtown Salt Lake City with Al Holman’s Florsheim Shoe shop. His talent as a salesman at Florsheim was rewarded when he was recruited by Burlington/Adler Sock Company as a territory outside sales representative. His sales skills, energy, and boundless personality led him to excel as the company’s top performer. His reputation preceded him, and he was offered jobs at several fashion manufacturers. When he decided to launch his own business, he opened the finest men and women clothing store in Salt Lake City—“The Gentry & The Lady,” located in the main lobby of the Hilton Hotel in downtown Salt Lake. Along the way he ventured into another business and became a stockbroker. After selling The Gentry & The Lady, Dale opened D. Grant Ltd. at Salt Lake’s Foothill Village. It was “Salt Lake’s Finest Men’s Clothing Store” and employed his children, and a number of fantastic non-family employees. D. Grant Ltd. was a successful venture for Dale from 1988-2015. “Dress for Success” was their motto, helping and educating men to look and feel their very best! Dale was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed many callings, including being a Draper Temple ordinance worker, Young Mens President, Sunday School Teacher, Home Teacher and Minister. He possessed a special talent in his ability to relate to young men. He was a patient, tenacious, home teacher and minister to those he served. In 2017 Dale was called to a full-time mission where he served for eighteen months in the Jakarta, Indonesia Mission. Afterward, he spoke often of his love and admiration for the Indonesian Saints. 2 Timothy 4: 7: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” Dale is survived by his children: Kathryn Grant McFarland (Arvey), Lila Gwen Grant Park (Greg), Susan Grant McLachlan (Jim), Dale Eldredge Grant III (Teri), Travis Sky Grant (Krissy), David Brian Grant (Stephanie), and Zachary Dillon (Cindi), and brother Barry Collard Grand (Lois). He had 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Eldredge and Patricia Fern Collard Grant, and his sister Gloria Lewgweneth Grant. Funeral services were held Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints Huntsville chapel, 227 S. 7400 E., Huntsville, Utah.
