Marathon organizers are looking for one to two people to assist for 2 hours (flexible time) on Friday, September 17. They are also looking for 12 to 15 people to assist from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on race day, Saturday, September 18. Event organizers provide all needed safety equipment. To volunteer, please respond to Rex Harris ASAP at either 801-791-3926 (a text would be fine) or email him at reharris@ utah.gov. A free lunch and volunteer T-shirt are included in the deal! Other benefits include community pride and ultimate satisfaction on making people’s race day experience a little more enjoyable. Also, the time requirement to volunteer is relatively short, leaving a full day open. Volunteer & Make a Difference at Wolf Creek th Military Family Retreat Foundation’s 38 For over a decade, the with a parent’s deployment. The parents are Wolf Creek Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, has been supporting military families through the generosity of this community. Whether being deployed or returning from deployment, separation brings stress and anxiety to a military family which is often difficult to overcome. Through a partnership with Hill Air Force Base and Summit/Powder Mountain, the Wolf Creek Foundation sponsors weekend retreats twice a year, where our military families relax, reconnect and develop much needed skills that help the entire family cope with deployments. Meals, lodging and entertainment, along with dedicated programming for adults and children are offered at no cost to the family. This program has held Best Practice status within the Air Force since 2008 and several bases from around the U.S. are working to create something similar for their families. One of the unique qualities of this program is what is done for the children. Several base organizations along with Air Force child development specialists take over Snowcrest Jr. High with a myriad of activities along with focused programming to help these children deal with the inherent fear and uneasiness that comes -- ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS -HUNTSVILLE TOWN PROJECT NAME: Downtown intersection paver/planter - 200 South Street /7400 East Street Construction Project PROJECT LOCATION: Huntsville, Utah – 200 South Street / 7400 East Street OWNER: Huntsville Utah, 7309 East 200 South, Huntsville, Utah 84317 OWNERS CONTACT: Beckki Endicott, Recorder, 801-745-3420 BID SUBMITTAL: Sealed Bids will be received at the office of the Town Recorder, of Huntsville Town, 7309 East 200 South, Huntsville, Utah, until 2:30 p.m., September 8, 2021; and then at said office, the bids, will be publicly opened and read aloud. DESCRIPTION OF BID WORK: The work includes furnishing all labor, tools, materials, equipment, transportation, and services required for construction of the above project; consisting of but not limited to the following items of work: mobilization; obtaining all bonds and insurance, installation of trees & vegetation, installation of river rock in gabion metal baskets, installation of Belgard sitting walls, installation of Belgard Pavers and all appurtenant work in accordance with the Drawings and Specifications prepared by the designer, Edgerock Landscape Design. Sunday Services 11 AM offered three training sessions that thoroughly deal with the issues that arise during a spouse’s deployment as well as re-integration when the spouse returns. Several seasoned officers have reported that in their 25- to 30-year careers, they have never been offered anything as beneficial to their families as this program. Your Opportunity to Make a Difference - We are looking for volunteers to help serve at some of the meals during the next retreat taking place September 24-26, 2021. Your only commitment will be for one meal during that weekend. All of the meals are buffet style so a volunteer’s main responsibility will be serving occasional beverages, clearing tables and resetting for the next meal. We are looking for six to eight volunteers per meal. The real benefit of volunteering at this event will be interacting with the retreat participants. When you talk to these families you truly become aware of the sacrifice that the whole family makes for the freedom that we take for granted. We invite you to thank these airmen and their families. NOTICE OF INTENT TO REQUEST THE RELEASE OF FUNDS 9/1/2021 Huntsville Town 7309 East 200 South Huntsville, Utah 84317 These notices shall satisfy two separate but related procedural requirements for activities to be undertaken by Huntsville Town. Request For the Release of Funds - On or about 9/16/2021, the Town of Huntsville will submit a request to the State of Utah Department of Workforce Services, Housing, and Community Development Division (HCDD) for the release of Community Development Block Grants Funds (CDBG) under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (PL93-383) to undertake the project known as Huntsville Town Community Center for the purpose of providing a new building to be used as a community center that will support town activities, celebrations, recreation and city offices. CDBG will not be used to support the portion of the building used for city offices. Total Project Cost $1,447,000. Finding of No Significant Impact The Town of Huntsville has determined that the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is not required. Additional project information is contained in the Environmental Review Record (ERR) on file at the office of Huntsville Town and is available for public examination and copying at 7309 East 200 South, Huntsville, Utah 84317 weekdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Public Comments - Any individual, group, or agency may submit written comments on the ERR to the Town of Huntsville. All comments received by 9/16/2021 will be considered by Huntsville Town prior to authorizing submission of a request for release of funds. Comments should specify which Notice they are addressing. Environmental Certification - Huntsville Town certifies to HCDD that Wendy McKay (environmental certifying officer) in her capacity as Town Councilmember consents to accept the jurisdiction of the Federal Courts if an action is brought to enforce responsibilities in relation to the environmental review process and that these responsibilities have been satisfied. HCDD’s approval of the certification satisfies its responsibilities under NEPA and related laws and authorities and allows Huntsville Town to use Program funds. Objections to Release of Funds - HCDD will accept objections to its release of funds and Huntsville Town certification for a period of fifteen days following the anticipated submission date or its actual receipt of the request (whichever is later) only if they are on one of the following bases: (a) the certification was not executed by the Certifying Officer of Huntsville Town; (b) Huntsville Town has omitted a step or failed to make a decision or finding required by HUD regulations at 24 CFR Part 58; (c) Huntsville Town or other participants in the development process have committed funds, incurred costs or undertaken activities not authorized by 24 CFR Part 58 before the approval of a release of funds by HCDD; or (d) another Federal agency, acting pursuant to 40 CFR part 1504, has submitted a written finding that the project is unsatisfactory from the standpoint of environmental quality. Objections must be prepared and submitted in accordance with the required procedures of 24 CFR Part 58, Sec. 58.76 and shall be addressed to State of Utah, Department of Workforce Services, Housing & Community Development Division (HCD) CDBG Environmental Review Officer, 140 East 300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111.
