Gould December 27, 1929 ~ March 20, 2019 Jay Dee Gould, age 89, passed away peacefully March 20, 2019 at 1:30 a.m. He was born December 27, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Lawrence O and LaVerda Weaver Gould. He married the love of his life Jean Stallings Gould April 10, 1951 in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State College. He spent two years in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for Utah Power & Light Co. as a lineman, cable splicer and instructor in the apprentice lineman program. He retired as a crew supervisor after 32 years of service. Surviving is his wife Jean of Eden; two sons, Alan Dee (Linda) Gould, Ogden and Gary J Gould, Eden. He has eight adorable grandchildren and sixteen amazing great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parent, one brother, and one great-grandchild. Friends and family may visit Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Following, family will travel to the Eden Meadow View Cemetery for a brief dedication and graveside service. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Stoney Brook of Eden, and their staff; and the loving care givers of Visiting Angels and Bristol Hospice Northern Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at <www.myers-mortuary.com> Eccles Community Art Center Announces Student Exhibits Selected art work created by the secondary students in Ogden City and Weber County School Districts will be featured at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden in the main and second floor galleries during April 2019. The work of the students from Ogden City Schools will be on exhibit April 1 thru April 13, 2019 with the work of the Weber School District students displayed April 15 thru April 27. A reception in association with Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll is scheduled for Friday, April 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Ogden School District student awards will be presented April 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Weber School District student awards will be presented April 25 during the same hours. The Carriage House Gallery will exhibit works by a variety of Northern Utah artists. The Secondary Student Competitions brings selected works from local junior high and high schools to the Eccles Community Art Center. The Ogden City and Weber County School District staff provide judging and awards for the competition. A Best of Show is presented to a work by both a Junior High and High School student with first, second, third and honorable mention awards presented in a variety of other categories. These exhibits are popular with the art center patrons and members of the community. The staff of the Eccles Community Art Center invites you to visit these exhibits throughout the month of April. Whether being deployed or returning from deployment, separation brings stress and anxiety to a military family that is often difficult to overcome. Through a partnership with Hill Air Force Base and Summit/Powder Mountain, the Wolf Creek Foundation sponsors weekend retreats twice a year where military families have the opportunity to relax, reconnect and develop much needed skills to assist the entire family cope with deployments. Meals, lodging, and entertainment, along with dedicated programming for adults and children are offered at no cost to the family. Your Opportunity to Make a Difference We are looking for volunteers to help serve at some of the meals during the next retreat taking place March 29 - 31. Your only commitment will be for one meal during that weekend. All of the meals are buffet style so a volunteer’s main responsibility is serving occasional beverages, clearing tables, and resetting for the next meal. We are looking for six to eight volunteers per meal. The real benefit of volunteering at this event is interacting with retreat participants. During this extended week, 21 locally-owned and independent restaurants in Downtown Ogden will showcase their menu bests at low prices, offering a fixed two-course lunch for $10 or a three-course dinner for $17. Ogden boasts an affordable, eclectic, downtown lifestyle that is growing in the arts and culinary scene. During Ogden Restaurant Week, diners will discover locally-sourced menu items ranging from yack meatballs to marinated mushrooms, fresh surprises that encompass caprese salad to bruschetta, and comfort food favorites from lobster mac ‘n cheese to Philly cheese steaks.
