A reception for the artists and public is planned in association with Ogden First Friday Stroll March 1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Works will remain on exhibit through March 30. The Palette Club of Ogden was established October 7, 1943 with the stated purpose of advancing the community’s interest in art, and encouraging artists. These remain the goals of the club today, 76 years later. The Palette Club is open to artists in any media, beginners to professional. Monthly Michelle Montierth meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin with a social at 6:15 p.m. They feature demonstrations in art techniques or lectures on art-related subjects. The Palette Club is currently holding their meetings in the Art Studio of the Becky Espinoza Eccles Art Center’s Carriage House. Members, guests, and general public are invited to attend meetings, as well as view works in the art shows the Platte Club sponsors throughout the year. Monday, March 18: The Story of a Place Under Battery & a Salt …Cap with a speaker from Friends of the Great Salt Lake. The EPA relies on local organizations to study and inform them on local environmental issues. Friends of the Great Salt Lake has been awarded a grant to study a still-active facility that harvests brine from the lake to produce magnesium and other chemicals. In this pre- 2019. Organizers are looking for a variety of professionals in the community to present to the eighth-grade class of students that day. Morning or afternoon sessions are still available. The goal of Career Day is to help students understand how important it is that they choose a career that fits their personality—something they will enjoy—as well as helping them understand the importance of continuing their education after high school—whether by attending a seat. Jazz at the Station usually performs for standing-room-only audiences. Originally sponsored by the WSU Department of Performing Arts, Jazz at the Station is now produced by volunteers Caril Jennings and son, Benjamin Jennings. Musicians are paid through a R.A.M.P grant, an Ogden City Arts Grant, and donations from our friends directed through Ogden’s Union Station Foundation or WSU Alumni Jazz in the WSU Alumni Office. The railroad led to the socioeconomic diversity seen in Ogden from the 1870s up to today. Nine rails, coming from all over the country to Ogden, exposed Ogden’s people to various cultures, ideas, and industries, forever changing the cultural and economic landscape of Ogden’s community and of Utah’s. Visionary artists are invited to be a part of the 150th anniversary by submitting artwork for consideration. Two art calls are open for participation, and there is no entry fee for either call. A $1,000 artist honorarium will be awarded for the winning commemorative poster design, and up to ten artists will receive a $400 honorarium for designs selected for the utility box project. Submissions are due March 1, 2019.
