Show Volume XXV Issue X The Ogden Valley news Page 5 January 15, 2019 Ogden Valley Chapter of The Utah Sons Of Paul Stromberg Memorial Family Ski Day at Ogden Nordic The Pioneers Announces January Program Paul Stromberg started a junior ski program in North Ogden long before Ogden Nordic was established as a cross-country ski venue in North Fork Park. Paul was a vigorous outdoorsman who loved cross country skiing and passed that love on to his children, his neighbors’ children, and any other children he could convince to show up for ski practice. He was a founding board member for Ogden Nordic and was instrumental in getting our organization off the ground. We are proud to be just a small part of Paul’s legacy. His sudden and unexpected passing last fall was a great loss to our community. Ogden Nordic will host a Family Fun Ski day on the beautiful trails at North Fork Park in Paul’s memory. The event will be held Saturday, January 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a noncompetitive social event and will include good food, a Paul trivia scavenger hunt, and a raffle. A $6 trail feel is required; half of the Paul Stromberg proceeds will go to the American Heart Association. Rental equipment will be available at the Nordic Center as usual. While the event begins at 10:00 a.m., food will be served between approximately 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Bring your family up to North Fork Park, and share in honoring the memory of this treasured man—Paul Stromberg—by getting out on the beautiful winter trails of North Fork Park. Farmers Market Ogden Launches 2019 Winter Market Inside Ogden Union Station Ogden Downtown Alliance is excited to present our second season of Winter Market by Farmers Market Ogden! A slimmed down version of Farmers Market Ogden, Winter Market is a cozy, indoor opportunity to shop local preserves, jams, freshly baked goods, artisan works, warm seasonal beverages and more. Held inside Ogden Union Station (2501 Wall Ave, Ogden), Winter Market starts Saturday, January 19 and will continue every Saturday thru February 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering six additional weeks of supporting our local farmers, artisans, and musicians. From freshly baked bread to steaming cups of artisan hot chocolate, Winter Market has accepted 50 vendors this year, bringing more variety and a larger selection of local goods. The Front YogaLoft will be hosting weekly community yoga classes upstairs in the Old Timers Room at 10:00 a.m., and two live acoustic performances by local artists will be featured weekly in the Grand Lobby starting at 10:30 a.m. With the summer Farmers Market Ogden ending in September and Fall Market continuing through the end of October, Winter Market allows Ogden access to jam, preserves, meats and vegetables. This allows farmers to generate income from producing year-round and gives our community the chance to shop local with Farmers Market Ogden for 24 weeks! “Rainy Day Emporium was a vendor for the first Winter Market last year and we loved every minute of it. It was well organized, well promoted and a lot of fun. We now have a brick and mortar store on 25th Street, but still want to be a part of the market” says Misty Bussard, Owner of Rainy Day Emporium, “It is a great indoor venue if you’re looking for something to do during those cold winter Saturdays, plus the vendors are amazing and have a great variety. It is really our honor to grow with the Winter Market and we look forward too many more!” Farmers Market Ogden is an authorized EBT/SNAP provider offering participants an opportunity to make EBT exchanges at Winter Market by visiting the information booth. Vendor registration is now closed. No on-site registration or weekly vendors will be allowed. For event information, visit FarmersMarketOgden.com and follow @ FarmersMarketOgden on Facebook and Instagram.
