Dick and Sharon Slaughter are celebrating 60 interesting and fun-filled years of marriage. They will celebrate with a trip to Arizona. They were married November 8, 1957. They both attended Ogden City Schools, graduating from Ogden High. They enjoyed many years camping and boating with their children and now enjoy traveling, collecting antiques, and spending time at Bear Lake. Dick and Sharon Slaughter Dick owned and operated Dick’s Barber Shop Carl “Eldon” Dennis for 46 years. Sharon worked at St. Benedict Hospital, Auerbachs, and retired from Kimberly-Clark April 29, 1936 ~ November 17, 2017 Corporation. They have four children, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two greatgreat-grandchildren. They reside in Eden, Utah. Carl “Eldon” Dennis, 81, passed away in his family home of 57 years on November 17, 2017. He was born in Marysvale, Utah to Carl E. and Heartha Henry Dennis on April 29, 1936. He married Helen Tate on August 8, of Art in Chicago. He served in the Army Air 1958. They are the parents of three children: Shurley Corps during WWII as a Pilot Instructor of Denise, Victoria Lynn (deceased), Russell. Dean Carl lived life to the fullest, enjoying and Aviation Cadets and Chinese Officers in AT-6’s. All are invited. November 23, 1931 ~ November 19, 2017 Our beloved husband, father grandfather, and friend, Samuel N. Chournos, passed away peacefully November 19, Samuel Chournos 2017. Sam was born November 23, 1931 to Nicholas and Dorothy Chournos in Tremonton, Utah. Sam spent his life between his Tremonton home, where he attended Bear River High School, and his beautiful sheep ranch on Monte Cristo, Utah. He married the love of his life, Janice R. Roche, March 31, 1950. They were sealed in the Logan Temple July 23, 1958. Sam took over his first herd of sheep from his father Nick in 1965. He put his whole life into improving and expanding the business he loved, eventually organizing a partnership with his sons Steve and Dan. The main focus of the ranch was on Monte Christo, but branched out to run herds on forest allotments in Wyoming. He and his family wintered on the Bovine Mountains near Grouse Creek, Utah. Sam was very active in his community, the Wool Growers Association, and the LDS church. He served as president of the Utah Wool Growers, receiving Sheepman of the year in 1980, and the Utah Wool Growers Distinguished Service Award in 2007. He was Grand Marshall of the Box Elder County Fair in 2012. He was a member of the Box Elder els dancing through Europe. He worked hard and traveled extensively during his long 56 year civilian career as a quality engineer with Sperry Unisys/L3. His retirement at 70 years old did not stop him from working part-time at his favorite location, Davis Golf Course. Carl was known as a generous, giving and caring man. He would give anything he had, to anyone. His passion and love was to live, play, and care for his best friend and wife of 59 years, Helen. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Lynn; his parents; and second mother, Ida Nay Dennis; grandson Justin Wayne Hunter; and son-in-law Ralph E. Burroughs. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Russell Eldon Dennis, Kaysville; daughter, Denise (Dennis) Burroughs, Manassas, VA; two grandchildren, Cole Hunter and Lyndsey Turner; three greatgrandchildren; brother, Roger (Carla) Dennis, Marysvale, UT; sisters: Glenna (Woodie, deceased) Winget, Auburn, CA; Linda (Jim) Simmons, Eden, UT; Carolyn Dennis (Earl) Martinson, Salt Lake City, UT; Kathy (Lynn) Rigby, Layton, UT, and Kaylynn of Ogden, UT. A memorial visitation was held Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the residence, 219 W. 350 S., Kaysville, Utah. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Layton, Utah. Condolences may be shared at <www. lindquistmortuary.com> County Sheriff Posse. Sam served his church as Sunday School President, and as a counselor in the Bishopric of the Riverview Ward. He and Janice served an LDS mission to New Zealand from 2001-2003. Sam is survived by his wife, Janice, and his six children: Steven R. Chournos (Chris), Daniel S. Chournos (Debbie), Paulette Wise (Kelly), Bart K. Chournos (Peggy), Michael Chournos (Dorothy), Sami Chadaz (Marc); 35 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank all those who lovingly cared for him and the Bear River Valley Care Center. Appreciation is extended to all who touched his life for the last 86 years. He loved life and being a part of this community. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Riverview Ward LDS Chapel (10750 N. Hwy 38, Deweyville, Utah).
