Show Volume XXIV Issue XIV The Ogden Valley news Page 7 August 15, 2017 Announcements Obituaries Linda Eloise Martinez May 30, 1959 ~ July 27, 2017 Linda Eloise Martinez, 58, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her famLinda Martinez ily and friends. Linda was born in Ogden and raised in Roy by Joe and Helen Salazar. She is survived by her father Joe; husband Jeffrey; daughters Melissa and Krista Ann; grandchildren Hailey and Michael; siblings Leroy (Maki), Don (Janet), Joe (Tami) and Tim; and her besties Kate and Debbie. “A few of her favorite things” were musicals, ghost stories, flower gardening, chai tea lattes, reading and listening to podcasts. She spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren, taking her dogs on long walks; and making sure her dad always had plenty of green chilies. Her greatest passion was Montessori Education. She graduated from the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in Boulder, Colorado in Early Childhood Development. She taught at Anchorage Montessori in Anchorage, Alaska and at Ogden Valley Montessori in Eden, Utah. She founded and directed her LeRae Bulkley Perkins September 20, 1935 ~ August 6, 2017 LeRae Joyce Bulkley Perkins, age 81, passed away at home among family members in Fruit Heights, Utah August 6, LeRae Perkins 2017. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 20, 1935 to Clifford L. & Sybil Geneva Hanson Bulkley. She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters (Ardella Anna Brandt, Geneva Lee Houchins, Verna Mae Perkins, Patricia Amelia Pritchett) and one brother (Marlon Vernon Bulkley). She is survived by her husband Merl D. Perkins; sons, Ronald C (Tammy) Perkins of Erda, Utah; Wayne D. (Alison) Perkins, Liberty, Utah; Allen Leon (Sherri) Perkins, Hardin, Montana; and Douglas Hal Perkins, Bountiful, Utah; one daughter, Susan Kay Cleaver of Fruit Heights, Utah; and 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. own school, The Children’s House Montessori Preschool in Pleasant View, Utah. She was also a founding member and original board member of the Montessori Charter School in North Ogden. Her love was the education of her “kiddos.” She was affectionately known as the “child whisperer.” We hope a part of her lives on in every child she educated. Linda was a lover of all animals, especially her pet dogs who were part of the family and were by her side to the end. To honor her wishes, her ashes will be spread over the ocean where she spent countless hours watching the Beluga Whales swimming in the Turnagain Arm at her favorite place on earth, Beluga Point in Alaska. She is preceded in death by her mom, Helen Salazar. Her smile, laughter and love will be deeply missed by all. Friends and family were invited to attend a memorial service at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St. in Ogden, Utah on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. Funeral Services were held August 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4050 S. 3900 W., West Haven, Utah. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the American Cancer Society. Merl and LeRae were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple October 12, 1951. She lived with her in-laws when Merl was drafted into the military and sent to Korea. When Merl returned they moved to Chicago, Illinois for schooling, which is where their first child, Ron, was born. They have lived in Farmington, Kearns, Bountiful, Woods Cross, Willard and Fruit Heights. She was active in the LDS Church, serving in many callings. Family was very important to LeRae. She enjoyed doing family history and temple work for deceased family members. LeRae loved to travel, shop, camp, crafts, and making quilts for family members. She also enjoyed Girls’ Day Out with her sisters, and later with her daughter and niece—an important monthly event. Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, 2017 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah where a viewing was held Thursday evening and Friday morning prior to services. Linda Deem August 8, 2017 ~ October 7, 1962 Linda Deem, 54, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 8, 2017 in St. George, Utah surrounded by her daughters and family. Linda suffered several years with declinLinda Deem ing health. She was born October 7, 1962 in Ogden, Utah to Glen and Karen Jorgensen Deem. Linda attended Valley Elementary School and Valley Junior High, and graduated from Weber High School. Linda then moved to St. George and attended Dixie State. She enjoyed Southern Utah and lived there the rest of her life, moving to Santa Clara in 1988. Linda’s joy in life was her children and grandchildren: Stevie (Scott) Williams of Issauquah, Washington; DaLyn (Austin) Davis of Kearns, Utah; Michlyn Dockery of Santa Clara, Utah and Glena (Adam Weiss-fiancé) Dockery of Sandy, Utah; and grandchildren Keagean, Nick, Baelie, Alister, Brecka, and Damon, with Ryelie on the way. Linda was always working to provide for her family. She was a master at crocheting and made beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed reading novels, cross word puzzles, her indoor garden, and baking wonderful character cakes. Linda was a very talented lady and a huge fan of country music. Linda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Santa Clara 3rd Ward. Linda is survived by daughters and their families; her father and siblings: Te-Rill (Annette) Deem, James (Kayla) Deem and JeNeal Deem. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Linda, you are a shining star in our lives. Santa Clara funeral services were held Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Santa Clara LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 3040 Santa Clara Dr., Santa Clara, Utah. Visitations were held Thursday, August 10 at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah and Friday prior to services at the church. Ogden funeral services were held Saturday, August 12 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah with a visitation prior to services at the mortuary.
