Show Volume XXII Issue XXIV The Ogden Valley news Page 7 February 15, 2015 Announcements Obituaries Lorraine Andersen Vause March 4, 1934 ~ January 30, 2015 Our loving Mom, Grandma Rain, and Aunt Reindeer, Lorraine Andersen Vause, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2015. Lorraine Vause She was born March 4, 1934 to Niels J and Edith Hansen Andersen in Ogden, Utah. Lorraine married Horace “Jay” Vause on April 9, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent a short, wonderful 31 years together, and were blessed with four children. Jay passed away June 15, 1984. Lorraine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including President of the Relief Society and Primary Chorister. She also worked at the Ogden LDS Temple. Lorraine enjoyed square dancing, reading, and knitting hats for children. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them in their various activities. Lorraine loved going to Wendover, traveling, lunch with her Roma Richardson Harper November 28, 1925 – January 31, 2015 Roma Richardson “Peaches” Harper, 89, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Beehive Home in Eden, Utah, surrounded by family members. Roma Harper She was born November 28, 1925 in Brigham City, Utah, the second daughter of Edgar Josiah Richardson and Minnie Bolette Romer Richardson. Roma met the love of her life, Wendell William Harper, while they were both serving a mission in Minnesota. On April 7, 1948, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. As a dedicated, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served diligently in various callings, including Relief Society President, several times, and Temple worker. Roma and Wendell also served a mission in Oregon. Her greatest love was service to others, including family, friends, and, often, strangers. Even at the Beehive Home, she was always looking out for others. Roma and Wendell postponed a mission to help take wonderful care of a grandson with cancer during treatment at Primary Children’s Hospital. Roma and Wendell had an amazing love for each other. They loved to paint and many of their paintings adorn their children’s homes. She loved to take rides with Wendell on the motorcycle, and they also loved to snowmobile in Island Park with their friends. They loved friends, and attending the Andersen Family Reunions each year. Mom was a very kind, loving, and giving person. Lorraine is survived by her children, Kent J. (Vicky) Vause, Huntsville; Lynn (Karen) Vause, Farr West; and Lana (Charlie) Bingham, Plain City; 13 grandchildren, J C, Dustin, Shelly, Khara, Sandra, Kirsten, Cortney, Katelyn, Cooper, Jacee (Eugene Oregon Mission), Denton, Bridger, and Colter; and nine greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay; son, Kevin; grandsons, Mitch and Jacob; parents, Niels and Edith Andersen; brother, Ralph Andersen; and sister, Illene Knight. The family expresses their appreciation for the love and tender loving care from all the staff at Quail Meadows and Leah and Vlad with AFI Hospice. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Interment, Plain City Cemetery. Roma was an excellent cook, best known for her Danish dumpling soup, banana cream pie, bread, cinnamon rolls, and meatballs. Her home was always immaculate. She crocheted beautiful afghans for her family and grandchildren. Later in life, she started making beautiful cards and gave them away to family and friends. When Wendell’s health deteriorated, she was at his side, loving him and caring for him every single day. He passed away July 6, 1995. She later married J. Earl Johnston and he preceded her in death. She married Ernie Hale and he also preceded her in death. Roma is survived her children, Teague (Ann) Harper, Randy (Kathy) Harper, Jan Tarter, Leslie (Amy) Harper, Julie (Dennis) Bowcut, and Shawn (Jill) Harper; 26 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Donna Valentine. She was preceded by her parents, and a brother, Edgar. The family extends a special thanks to Dan Phelps, the staff at the Beehive Home, and Dr. Kelly Amann, and staff.; also, Symbii Home Health and Hospice, Alyx Gonzales (Nurse), and Lesley Froerer (Aide) for their tenderness, kindness, and compassionate care of Roma in her last days. Also, sincere appreciation to Hilary Campbell for her unwavering love, kindness, care, and support of her sweet grandmother. Call today for an appointment! Obituaries C.T. O’Neal C. T. O’Neal passed away January 31, 2015. He was born February 25, 1968 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to A.T. O’Neal and Colleen Alvord O’Neal. He enjoyed the outC.T. O’Neal doors—hunting, camping, and fishing—and shared many stories around the fire pit. He loved spending time with family and friends and would share a quip with anybody. He was employed in road construction and had many friends and colleagues. He will be dearly missed by all. His dog Bosco, his companion and loyal friend, will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife Janell of Ogden; children, Cody and Taylor of Salmon, ID; Braxton and Kylie of Ogden; and grandchild, Kadin. He is also survived by siblings Barbara Williams of Clearfield; Lynette and Glen Bratcher of Cromwell, KY; Cathy and Steve Hanson of Weeping Water, NE; Mike and Della O’Neal of Paris, TX; Edie and Brent Dawson of Willard; Karen Fryer of Plain City; Sharen and Tryce Trimble of Huntsville; Carol O’Neal of England; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom were loved. He is preceded in death by his parents, and Misty Tracy (mother of Cody and Taylor). A Memorial Service was held Friday, February 6, 2015 at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th St., Ogden, Utah, followed by a wake at the VFW, 907 W 12th St., Ogden.
