The tree will be harvested from the Colville National Forest in northeast Washington State and wrapped on November 1 for its cross-country journey, spending several weeks on the road visiting various communities including Ogden. Ogden business members, U.S. Veterans, and school children will participate in the special ceremony at the Junction to honor what’s often referred to as “The People’s Tree,” which symbolizes the towering forests from which it came, and all that nature provides. The program is one-hour long and designed to engage both children and adults in a festive atmosphere of Christmas fun and well-wishes. “This performance is delightful! It’s also interactive,” said Nancy Andersen who coordinates the Church History Museum’s living history program. “It’s for the whole family, including young children. The group’s costumed living history interpreters are passionate about the nineteenth century way of life in early Utah. They wear authentic costumes, share true stories, and preserve early pioneer homemaking and workplace crafts and skills. They have performed their Christmas program at the Church History Museum for several years. “Individuals with reservations will be seated first, followed by those waiting in the standby line,” Andersen said. “Most people in the standby line are able to get seats.” The Church History Museum is located at 45 N. West Temple St. in Salt Lake City. Free parking will be available behind the museum at 119 W.
