A Chocolate Affaire to Remember The Ogden Opera Guild presents its 24th annual Chocolate Affaire, An Elixir of Love, on Saturday February 11, 2012. Held in St. Joseph High School’s Black Box Theatre (1790 Lake Street) from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., this year’s event promises to be the perfect Valentine’s Day rendezvous. Just imagine—beautiful music fills the air, a libation is poured, and a delectable light buffet crowned with the Chocolate Affaire’s signature hand-dipped chocolates tempts your palate while the silent auction offers items to excite your imagination—opera tickets, crystal treasures, gourmet delights, jewelry, original art, antiques and collectibles, condo for eight in Park City, and more. Proceeds from this gala evening will support Utah Opera by sponsoring a matinee performance of The Elixir of Love, one of the season’s four operas. When budgets are as tight as they are in the arts, this sponsorship is more important than ever. Utah is extremely fortunate to have an opera company of such stature, and the Ogden Opera Guild is pleased to lend its assistance and encouragement to Utah Opera. Equally important, and also funded by the proceeds of this event, is the Ogden Opera Guild’s educational outreach to students. Students from local high schools, middle schools, and Youth Impact, accompanied by their chaperones, will attend full dress rehearsals for one of the operas as guests of the Guild. For most of the students, it is the first exposure to this art form, and from the notes received after their experience, it is a great introduction! Tickets for the Chocolate Affaire are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Karen Elkington at 801-394-1309.
