Works by Photographer Keith Vaught on Exhibit at Ogden Nature Center Local photographer Keith Vaught captures the changing moods, seasons and skies of the Great Salt Lake in his stunning photographs, on exhibit through November at the Ogden Nature Center. Vaught¹s images are on display in both the Visitor Center and the LS Peery Education Building. The Ogden Nature Center is located at 966 W. 12th Street, Ogden, Utah. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keith Vaught bought his first digital camera and an annual state park pass in the spring of 2003. The unique beauty of the Great Salt Lake drew him to Antelope Island State Park as a frequent hiker and photographer. From the beginning, Vaught began sharing his pictures on the internet. In 2007, fellow photographer Charles Uibel suggested that Vaught send his pictures to KSL TV. For about one year, Vaught¹s pictures were frequently featured on the weather segment of the nightly news. In October 2007, Studio 5, a weekday morning show, did a story on Vaught¹s photography. Since then he has upgraded his camera to a Nikon DSLR. Vaught has displayed his photographs in shows at the Antelope Island Visitor Center, the Annual Bird Festival, and the Ogden Art Show. Vaught states, “The island is a place of solitude and peace and the Great Salt Lake is the perfect palette, reflecting the magnificent Wasatch Range and the ever-changing skies over Northern Utah.” Musical Theatre Review of New Musicals Opera on the Scene The Weber State University Department of state colleges and universities. This event is free to the public but donations would be appreciated. Seating is first come, first served. The theatre will have 220 seats available for each performance. Weber State Encore is a group of 24 Musical Theater students at WSU directed by Maurie Tarbox, with choreography by the various performers and accompanied by Nicholas Maughan. The students were selected by audition primarily for their vocal and musical skills. As Tarbox says, “The group was created to be an outreach to the community, and desires to perform for community and school functions throughout the semester. It was also created to facilitate the Musical Theater program at WSU. As you know, WSU has the only Musical Theater degree program offered by at Weber. This group gives more students the opportunity to learn performance skills, be on stage, and have another outlet to use their talents. I am amazed at the talent and enthusiasm the students of Encore bring to every rehearsal and performance so far. “Weber State Encore will be performing songs from “The Lion King” and “Spamalot,” “Jersey Boys,” “A New Brain,” “Spring Awakening,” and “Songs for a New World,” all very recent plays. They will perform as an ensemble, but what makes it different than a choir is that they also use their acting skills to bring the audience into the scenes. Also, each piece will be staged and/or choreographed. This is a performance you will not want to miss!” For more information about this program, contact Marie Tarbox at maurie@q.com or Sean Bishop seanedwardbishop@gmail.com or 801694-7994.
