Renowned Utah Author to Speak at Ogden Valley Library On September 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ogden Valley Library in Huntsville, Stephen Trimble will present his new book, “Bargaining for Eden: The Fight for the Last Open Spaces Stephen in America,” Trimble w h i c h explores the tension between community and development in the West. The book takes a hard look at the values that shape developers and land use policy, and searches for historical context, for understanding of power politics, and for the essence of America. In his talk, he tells provocative stories, shows slides, and reads excerpts from the text—all aimed at creating conversation; our only hope for the future. A question and answer session will follow the presentation, after which the author will be available to sign books that will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Trimble’s book—which is also a case study of the acquisition of forest-land property by the Holding family for resort development, and the reaction of Ogden Valley residents, many of whom are quoted in the book—will benefit The Ogden Valley Land Trust.
