Montgomery celebrated his 80th birthday with a family party on Friday, February 8, 2008 in Liberty. He was born on February 8, 1928 to George Elery and Eva Elizabeth Clark Montgomery at the Dee Hospital in Ogden. Don served in the armed forces and went to Korea in 1950. Upon his return, Weddings he started to work for Hill Air Force Base as a sheet metal man. On September 26, 1956 he married Marcene Wayment in West Weber. In 1982 he retired from Hill Air Force Base. In 2000, he and Marcene went on a mission and served in Nauvoo, Illinois. They are both currently serving in Salt Lake City. Don does enjoy his ranch, watching the Utah Jazz, time spent outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding horses. He likes spending time with his family. He is also good about visiting and keeping in touch with friends. For the past few years, Don and his wife have been able to travel to various places of interest. His children and their spouses Heather and Ethan Maw are David and Ronda Wadman, Cody and Karen Montgomery, Rob and Heidi Bailey, Housley – Maw Kelly and Darlan McCoy, Bob and Lesha Kessock, and Brian and Mitzi Deeter. The ceremony was officiated by 2nd District Judge W. Brent West. The bride is the daughter of Lynn and Christ Housley of Liberty. Parents of the bridegroom are Bryce and Yvonne Maw of South Ogden. The bride chose Hailey Shupe as her maid of honor. Tiffany Campbell and Krystal Bruestle were her bridesmaids. Isaac Maw performed the duties of the best man. Chris Hargreavs and Austin Phillips were his groomsmen. She is a graduate of Weber High School, and is employed as a lab technician at McKay-Dee Hospital and as an instructor at the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College. He is a graduate of Bonneville High School. He is employed as a finance manager at Ken Garff and as a mortgage officer with APEX Financial. The new couple will live in South Ogden after their honeymoon. Obituaries Alkie Campkin Alkie Maxine Campkin Our mom/granny, Alkie Maxine Campkin, passed away December 18, 2007 in Ogden, Utah. She was born August 16, 1930 in Provo, Utah, the daughter of Arthur Ray and Alkie Draper. She grew up in Ogden Canyon and loved the area. School and stayed in touch with friends from the Valley for many years. In December of 1961 she married our dad, DeVern Facer Campkin. Summers were spent in the mountains of Ogden Canyon, going to Vetus’s for ice-cream cones, and Mason’s for burgers. Mom loved her many grand/great grandchildren and would never hesitate getting down on the floor and rolling around and giggling with them. She had a passion for painting, gardening, and sewing and spent time with her family. She will be forever remembered for her young spirit. Her family consists of daughters Alkie Diamante; Alison D. (Kelly) McGurie; and sons Loring (Brenda) Draper and Trent (Cindi) Draper-Campkin; 29 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; two brothers, who were her best friends, Arthur B. (Lana) Draper of Hooper and Bob (Sharon) Draper of Salt Lake City. Our dad, and the love of mom’s life, has been waiting for her for the past four years, and they are both now at peace. Graveside services were held, December 22, 2007 at the Brigham City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Myers Ogden Mortuary. He was born January 4, 1922 in Stone, Idaho to Nathan Andrew and Sarah Allen Richard Wheeler Wheeler. Dad learned to work hard growing up on the farm in Stone, Idaho and excelled through school graduating early. His family moved to Brigham City in his teen years where he helped with the farm and fruit orchards. He joined the U.S. Army and served honorably during World War II. Upon returning he worked for the Ogden Arsenal, then Hill Air Force Base where he retired after 30 years of service. In 1951, Dick met and married the love of his life, June McMillen, in Elko, Nevada. She passed away in 1983. Dad loved to tinker and could fix anything. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, camping, and especially fishing out on the Oregon coast. One of Dad’s greatest passions was gold prospecting and showing off his finds or chatting about where the next big nuggets were at. His love of the outdoors got him into ATV’s. He loved to go on long rides with his family. Dad will be deeply missed, especially our times on Grandpa’s Mountain with him. He is survived by his children: Steven A. (Ela) Wheeler, Pleasant View; Tony A. (Vicky) Wheeler, Ogden; Ann (Jeff) McMillen, Plain City; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Nathan C. (Melba) Wheeler and John L. (Bev) Wheeler; and two sisters, Peggy (George) Neal and Carma (Les) Shaw. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two infant brothers and a sister. Hugs and kisses grandpa, we will miss you forever – your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to give a heartwarm thank you to Hearts for Hospice for all their loving care. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Interment, Liberty Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded.
