But for P.E., sixth grade teacher Shirl Weight has been teaching the sixth Issue X 1, 2006 Weber Pathways to Honor Municipalities Dance? orated the gym. It looked AMAZING! We just want to say “thanks a bunch” to all those mothers! During March and April, Weber Pathways will be honoring ten County municipalities for their commitment to building trails in our community. The group will present a framed Weber Pathways trail map to each of these municipalities at their council or commission meetings. Ogden City has made a major commitment to trails, both in terms of time and funds. Ogden has completed the Ogden River Parkway from Rainbow Gardens to Gibson Avenue. They continue to work to extend this Parkway to the 215 Street Pond and along the Weber River south of the Kayak Park. The City’s Ogden Trails Network has overseen development of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail on the bench east of the city; and they continue to work with the city to maintain the trail. In 2006, Ogden City will be co-hosting the Statewide Utah Trails and Pathways Conference. Riverdale City recently completed the Riverdale Weber River Parkway Trail and the Parker Drive Trailhead. Last year the city created a kayak park along the Parkway. In years past, Riverdale has invested resources in river corridor studies and has contributed funding for trails for fencing, eae bridges, interpretative signs, and trash cleanup. ~ Roy City has begun a citywide effort to develop pathways by preparing a trail plan for their City. ~ Hooper City is preparing the first phase of the Hooper City Trails System. This trail project will tie into the regionally planned historic Emigrant Trail that will connect several communities together, and celebrate and honor the historic heritage of those emigrants that passed through and camped in the Hooper area. ~ North Ogden City is working with Weber Pathways to complete the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, and have provided signs for five miles of trail that will be opened this spring on the Utah Power corridor. In the meantime, North Ogden City has formed a \d Trails Citizens’ Committee, and committee members are working with Weber Pathways to secure trail corridors and identify funding for trails. ~ South Ogden City has an increasing interest and enthusiasm for trails, and Weber Pathways looks forward to working with them in the future. ~ Farr West City has been an active promoter of historic trails in the area and has worked to recognize and preserve these routes in their city. The funds for this project were provided to Weber Pathways by the Junior League of Ogden. Weber Pathways is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, plan, and preserve a network of non-motorized public pathways and ae open space in Weber County. “Our partnerships with the County and the municipalities in the County are important to providing a beautiful mmunity, says Rick Fairbanks, Weber Pathways Chair. Current projects being coordinated by Weber Pathways include completing the Centennial Trail, a 27-mile loop following the Ogden and Weber rivers and connecting with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail; and developing the Bonneville Shoreline Trail north to Box Elder County and south to Davis County. In addition, Weber Marriott-Slaterville City mel land for a riverside park on 174 Street as part of its trail plans, has installed a pedestrian bridge, and has begun to build trails within the city. Weber County has built trails around Fort Buenaventura and has installed a pedestrian bridge in the fort. They have contributed to trail construction in Eden and for the Weber Pathways Rail Trail in the western end of the county. Most recently, the county has taken the lead in securing funding for, and construction of the meee Bridge over the Weber River near 24" Stre West Haven City _ the West Haven Trail System along the Weber and Ogden Rivers. This trail system includes the Charles McFarland pedestrian bridge, the West Haven Trail Head, and a park with a bowery. The city is now working on a pedestrian underpass to link their trail system to an Ogden City trail to the south. g youth anid families through our Take A Hike!
