With the help of 13 local area restaurants and merchants, the students were able to raise over $6,000 to assist the American Red Cross of Northern Utah with local disaster relief. In January and February, the Ogden Curling Club junior team of Steve Taggart,Eddie Rubey, Neil Womack, and Charles Taggart competed in the Jr. National Curling Tournament held in Bismarck, North Dakota. Girls State is a youth citizenship program involving 20,000 young women from throughout the nation. These citizen delegates study local, county, and state government by setting up mock governments according to the laws of their particular state. Two citizen delegates will be elected senators and will be eligible to attend Girls State Nationals in Washington, D.C. in addition to receiving college credit and eligibility for college scholarships. Zions “Pays for A’s” program invites students with A’s to submit their report cards to any Zions bank branch for the chance to win up to $1000. April 8 is the next deadline for students to enter a regional drawing for a $150 scholar- ship savings account. All entries will then be ooled into a statewide yearend drawing for $1000. We will give you a Kindergarten packet as soon as we receive the registration paper. It is important that you receive the packet as soon as possible so that you can make all the necessary appointments for your child and have the packet completed by April 13 (Kindergarten Round-up day), It is important that we have an accurate count of Kindergarten students to insure that we have the proper amount of classes in place for the coming school year.
