The Cats fell short in their first game at home to Ben Lomond 21-- 6 and lost on the road to Rich High 19-- The Cats hope to be back on track after pulling ofT their first regular season win in Moab against the Red Devils. The Wildcats played well in the first half against the Ben Lomond Scots going in halftime trailing 7 to 6, with Joel Wagstaff 'catching a touchdown pass from junior quarterback Robbie Atkinson. When they returned in the second half, the Cats came out a little slower than the first and Ben Lomond capitalized on the Cats poor performance and jumped up 21-The next week the Wildcats traveled to Randolph to play the Rich n Rebels in a preseason, game, but didn't show up ready to play and lost 19-The Wildcats made some changes in several positions which involved moving Robbie Atkinson to receiver and putting sophomore Ryan Rockhill in his place at quarterback. With these and more changes made, the Wildcats traveled five hours south to Moab to play the Red Devils. The Devils scored on their opening drive marching down the field from inside their five yardline. but had their extra-poiwas blocked by defensive end Brady Johnson. The Wildcats answered right back, scoring on their first offensive play, an 80 yard catch and run by Cole Sorenson on a pass from QB Rockhill. The Cats missed the extra point, and the game was even at 6. The Cats controlled the remainder of the first half as the defense stepped it up. On offense, running back Kolton Buckner kept breaking through for positive yardage, while Rockhill hit a variety of receivers including Preece. Goates. Sorenson, and Ben Leavitt. The Cats second score came on a pass from Rockhill to Preece. The Cats passed for the 2 extra points and were ahead 14-Shortly before the half, the Cats added yet another score using the Rockhill to Preece connection.
