Show August 31 2001 The Summit County Bee Braves Out School is Back in a To Strong Start Student Writer: Greg Piercy The North Summit Football Teams are off to a great start The Varsity team is 2-- with wins against Park City and Richfield. The Freshmen and JV teams both dominated their games against Richfield. The Varsity started out the season by playing Park City at home. At the beginning of the game, the Braves started out slow and fell behind by a touchdown, but in the second quarter they bounced back and was a head by half-tim- e, due to a 65 yard touchdown run by Jake Downard. In the second half the Braves 0, War Whoop Staff Writers: Megan Wide and Jette Warnick defense stepped it up causing two interceptions and many fumbles. Barry Williams returned one interception 47 yards for the final touchdown. The Braves ended up winning 34-2- 6. The second game of the season the mighty Braves traveled to Richfield to play the Wildcats. The Braves jumped out to an early lead by scoring two touchdowns in 1 minute and 38 seconds. The Braves pass defense was very good getting three interceptions, and the North Summit special teams was at its best with Jake Downard returning a 74 yard kickoff for a touchdown. Brett Evens, Jonathan Snyder, and Johnny Rodriguez will be representing the boys team this year. Brett Evans said, It seems that the practices are get-- 1 ting harder and harder every day but we are also improving. Cross Country takes a lot of hard work. The teams first meet will be held in Park City Sept 13. The team would really like to have your support Varsity Volleyball Team in PC Tourney Student Writer: Heidi Hewson Friday, Aug. 24. Lady Saturday started the tournament play. The Lady Braves started out slow in the first match, but as the day wore on they began to play with a whole new energy. They fought hard and improved with every game. The team had outstanding wins against Grantsville and the number one seeded Lehi. knocking them out of the double elimination tourna- Brave Varsity Volleyball Team started off the year with some preseason tour- nament play at Park City High School. Eight teams attended the tournament including the home team Park Wasatch, Lchi, City, Grantsville, Rowland Hall, Juan Diego, Jordan and North Summit. Many of these teams were from larger 3A schools. The Lady Braves started the tournament pool play with a tough match against Lehi. The girls played well, losing by only a few points at the end of the third game. The Lady Braves bounced back winning their next two games against Park City and Juan Diego. The team ended the night with a loss against Jordan. At the end of pool play, the North Summit was seeded fourth out of the eight, teams. ment At the end of the day, the Lady Braves found themselves with a well earned fourth place finish This year's Varsity team is looking good and hopes are high at the beginning of a new season. Anaconda Montana Graduate Bryan Searle, of Coalville, will from 'the Anaconda, graduate Montana, Job Corps on Monday, Sept. 10. The son of Sheryl and Jack Searle, Bryan transferred to the Montana Job Corps Center from Weber Batin Job Corps where he earned hit GED, a high school diploma and completed the welding program.
