The thought of this is frightening and painful, but this is exactly what Chris Draayer did in 1967. Due to this accident, Draayer lost his left arm and was unable to walk for several months. Draayers father was a Harley Davidson dealer in Salt Lake City and Ogden. With the help of his father, Draayer learned to love motorcycles and he won his first race at eleven. In 1966 he took fifth place in the nationals never expecting that next years season would be his last. He was 20 years old. 1967 was a scary year. The accident put him in the hospital for three months,' with little hope of riding a motorcycle again. As time progressed so did Draayer's physical condition and with the help of many doctors and a great deal of physical therapy, water aerobics, and yoga to relieve the pain and it worked. Draayer attributes his success to exercise and yoga. Yoga is relaxing physically and mentally, and it helps prevent injury, says Draayer. Draayer works out everyday at the Fit Stop and is often seen participating in the yoga classes. 1am very impressed with the new facility as well as the informative staff," states Draayer. The Fit Stop has programs for indoor cycling, karate, physical therapy, water aerobics, weight training, yoga, and much, much more. Draayer went from thinking that he would never be able to ride again to being the fastest one armed man on a motorcycle in the world. Two years after the accident Draayer was on his motorcycle again and with help from friends and family he was doing what he loves, racing and helping kids how to ride property. With years of experience on a motorcycle and an accident to prove how important safety is Chris is just the man for the job. While getting to know Chris Draayer I realized that he isn't the kind of person who sits back and says 1 cant do anything or "this font fair . He goes after the things he wants and gets them. As Chris would say: Attitude determines life and happiness. Nothing that you truly love is a waste of time. -- Shaynie Lentz Fit Stop 380 East 1500 South 435-654-21- 31 For Information and to buy tickets visit WWW.rlngUngOllt (fZJOitrrMIfzr Ticket Centers, Including Utah TM Outlets, Fred Meyer and Graywhale CO Exchange, Arena Box Office, oral (80S) 325-SEA- Groups (801) 325-254- T 8 -$- 18.75-$2575 TICKET PRICESi Sie.ys-$13.7- 5 vw (Service charges and handling fees may apply; no service charge at Anne OfficaJ ta Wfi i- - ANIMAL OPEN HOUSE hours Mon the ehow witfc paM adnUtUoa |
