Page A7 TOXMwvwm PEOPLE SERVING EOPLE Senior Citizens BY LOUISE WALLACE We got an early start this week, on Monday as a matter of fact About a k dozen of us had a supper and a good one it was too. Even with the small attendance, we had a variety that would certainly provide a balanced meal. After supper, we had a video party. Watched the video Meet The Parents loaned to us by Loraine Rock. I kind of think that between the bunch of us, it wont be necessary to buy or rent a video for quite awhile. We had our usual Wednesday and Friday sessions with President Shirley Phelps conducting. We were happy to welcome Don and Jean Calderwood who came with Don's sister. June and her husband Kelly Wilde. Because they came, we got Kelly back to the Center again. Don sang along with the musical family as they practiced. Hope they will come as often as they can. We held our monthly board meeting Friday with Gen Geary presiding and we had 100 percent in attendance. We haven't heard a word about our stolen property and without any clues to go on, it appears as though the scoundrels that did the dirty deed will go unpunished this time. If they continue on the road to pot-luc- crime, they are bound to slip up and then the punishment may be harsher than they expected. Then again, they may just get what we call a slap on the wrist. Since we don't expect to recover anything and have no idea how long it will be before we see anything from the insurance, the board voted to go ahead and purchase the necessary items in order fur the band to continue to go out and lighten the lives of others with their music. We can't help but wonder since the thieves knew exactly where the items they wanted were, that the robbery may have been done by someone who has visited the Center. This causes some concern to us. We know the Center has been used for a lot of outings, including many Missionary Farewell and welcome home parties and we realize that this may not be as convenient as it has been in the past but we feel this is necessary. Therefore, after much discussion the board voted to change our rental policy. As of this date, the Center will be open to active members only. The member who signs the rental agreement will be totally responsible for what goes on. No drinking, no smoking and no children parties remain part of the Martha Furse is making some re; I tasty meals but we see the need ft more kitchen utensils so along w it a committee to take care of the ban equipment, we also appointed i committee to evaluate the kitchc i needs. We will be eternally gratefi.! to a great fellow, George W. Perkin Jr., whose generous donation maki this all possible. This Tuesday, July 3, the band w n! be entertaining in Ogden at an assisted living facility, and we a bus so that the rest of u that aren't in the band or like wh can't carry a tune in a bucket can p along. The bus holds 49 passcngci and we hope to fill it up. I wondci what on earth the folks at the hnm will think when we start pouring ou or start worrying about wher-they'r- going to put us all. Well, w are going to find out. Barbar Roemmich who made the arrangements, says they have a real nio recreation room so I don't expect all that bad. Who knows, the may even have a dance floor for th young oldsters to enjoy. is sworn ii Many an office-holdone year and swom'at the next bui aren't we lucky to be living in America where we can do th swearing if we so desire?
