Kevin Louder helping elementary students with fun math activities. It always makes math more fun when you have a terrific teacher! That is really true for some North Summit Elementary students who are lucky enough to have Kevin Louder from North Summit High School come to help them enjoy and understand math concepts. He has been a popular addition to the classroom instruction by taking two or three small groups of students each day to help reinforce math concepts. Squeeze By The Braves It was a fun and exciting night for third grade students at North Summit Elementary School on March 16. Parents, family, and friends came to school to enjoy an evening billed as A Curriculum Extravaganza.' In lieu of a traditional production of songs and dances, the students and teachers chose to try a new approach of showing what the students had been studying in school. The night was kicked off with a rousing NBA type introduction of classes, a fun welcome song, and a fCSt of RWncrizSliOil 2! th? Sl'jdSRSS sang fifty Stales and Capitals. Kevin is not only used for tutoring It's true! The North Summit Softball team has put the South Summit team in their place. The atmosphere was tense, as it usually is when North Summit and South Summit meet. North Summit, had lost badly to Grantsville in their first Region game, but on Friday. March 27, they were ready to take on their big rivals. The Izidy Brave's fielding was great, their pitching was outstanding. and their offense was awesome! They were like a whole new team. The infield made plays, the outfield caught fly balls, they ran the bases well, and even had a few awesome slides. Even so, South Summit gave them a close game. At the bottom of the seventh tlie Braves were up to bat with the Cats up by two. Blaire Judd had a great hit that tied the score at three. This caused the game to go in to an extra inning. The Cals scored two runs, but the Braves kept fighting. The game went in to two more extra innings until the Braves kept -jhc Cats from scoring, and with the bases loaded. Sarah Searle hit the game winning RBI. When Riclly Richins crossed home plate, the North Summit bench went crazy! North Summit's pitcher. Julie Morrill, had a great game and struck out ten hatters. This was the first Varsity softball victory for North Summit in quite a while, and beating South Summit adds to the excitement. J he final score was nine to eight for North Summit. The Braves are currently one and one in Region. Great job. Lady Braves! Wake Up Braves Student Writer: Kirk Kehfietd A terrible day in baseball occurred last Friday night when the North Summit Braves played the South Summit Wildcats on their home turf. The game didnt start off too well, when the Cals look an early lead in the first inning. The Braves came back by scoring a couple of runs, but the Cats were still in the lead. North Summit committed a variety of errors and were unable to get back into the game. By the end of seven innings, the Cats came out on lop winning the game 10 to 6. That was one of the poorest performances by the North Summit team in years. Hopefully the team will regroup and lake the game positively. This is definitely a wake up call for the varsity team. They need to take control early in the game and keep control until the end. North Summit will play South Summit again on April 20. The team would be greatly appreciative if some fans came to the game. With support, the Braves would be stronger mentally to lake on the challenges in their Region.
