All I see in any of their e pleas is a rearrangwhat of ing they've all said in order to make it look like they were the originators of each others campaign rhetoric. But isn't that what it's always like for every election to any office, whether local, state or federal? They all promise things that they cannot possibly bring about. But to hear the applicant tell it they are the ones who will control whatever money than ever before, for the the same, purpose of who made current the huge amounts of money avail- new title. They forget that there are others already in office who have likewise "sold their souls to the office-holde- highest bidder in order to attain of House rs able for them in the first place. Not only that, but according to a documentary on 60 Minutes, the other evening, our individual privacy is long gone, and has been for about 30 years or more. It's due to a secret government entity called Echelon (USA), which is a communications interception and interpretation diagnostic surveillance organization, whose operational territory covers, literally, ....every square inch of space which encompasses every magnetic or electronic message airway on this planet. The meaning is quite clear, anyone on their prominency. Our new seekers of the nations highest office possess no proven methods to control all 535 members of congress (100 433 somehow" become available to rs happens once they assume their Representatives), and therefore cannot seriously believe that their campaign promises will became reality. Even debatable items passed through congress or the senate by a majority vole doesn't guarantee success. We are all loo familiar with the individual legislators' political spins (occurring after the fact) which add andor subtract many items to or from bills which this planet sending messages to anyone else cannot do so without Echelon knowing about it and eavesdropping on it. They have were passed upon legislation for other worthy causes, but somehow in the finalization process end up with major differences written into law. I remember clearly, for example, when Bill Clinton promised, ....the end of big government, etc..., if he was elected. Wrong! The UiS. Government is bigger, by far, than such remarkable, advanced technological equipment that they are able to ...capture and analyze millions of messages daily. " Were we in a perfect world, this wouldn't be necessary, said one of the officials. But, we have guess you could say, about what we should regard as possibly the most important thing in which we Americans could become involved. It even some- times gets discouraging because elections do not reflect the will of the people any more. The real reflection seems to be caused by all that money, and the democratic way is losing its luster, maybe even its original purpose. Historically bom because it was supposed to be the ....will of the people, both parties allowed ordinary people to participate, think, talk, air their concerns, and even select by their individual count of votes cast, but not any more. The Two Party System has all but stopped that. Manipulative, politically strategic, delegate-securin- g loyalty maneuvers are deftly and subversively placed in motion, prior to stale-hel- d primary rallies, for the purpose of securely affixing the fore-anointe- d, tycoon-sponsore- nominee-to-b- money-lade- n d, e at the partys national convention. Consequently, we common voters are left to face the same fate as the folks down-streawhen the dam breaks. We can't figure out what caused it, either. But that didn't stop it from happening, probably, wont from happening again, and yet will surely bring forth more words that it will not happen again. Something Is Out Of balance In America." attiI do not believe that this tude, which pits man against man, man against woman, religion against religion, rich against poor, consumer against protector of the environment, and species against species, is good. Phil Gramm calls himself a Christian. In the Jewish Old Testament, God is reported to have created everything, and said that it was good. In he New Testament it is reported that the loss of even a bird is felt by God. For Phil Gramm to come along and say that any species that he does not consider necessary to human "progress" should be anihilated seems extremely and arrogant. We yearn for safe, healthy communities, for conservative, humble life styles for ourselves, our children, and all of Gods creatures. We yearn for a system of justice which is just and freedom which is free. We yearn for an honest economic system which would restore the home and allow parents to raise their own children. Where are the leaders who will begin this journey? Why does the present system weed them out of the process? Why can't good, kind, honest, selfless people make it into positions of executive, legislative, and judicial leadership? What is stopping us from creating a kind, geiilld;'heaftH,'free society? Returning from vacation to bad news is another thing that I wasn't expecting. Hearing about the sudden and unexpected death of a cousin's husband really blew me away. He was such a neat and happy guy and his surgery was supposed to be relatively minor. Guess that proves we never really know about life. I suppose we need to enjoy the days we have and make them positive ones-- not only for ourselves but for those around us as well. Our examples truly can influence our family members, strangers and friends.
