Show OFFICIALS kw FACTOR SITES on friday afternoon last field manager george austin field superintendent in john lewis and engineer En ginear DB DD pratt of the utah idaho sugar company were joined in this city by pres J francis merrell of the commercial club john D peters W V call D B C call and victor E madsen II adsen and the entire company got into two ri rigs s and drove over the I 1 proposed ro posed sites f for r the sugar factory adjacent to this I 1 city A stop was made in the watery lane and the ground gone over carefully with respect to the suitability of that location tor for a factory site mr austin talked rather freely and advised the gentlemen with him that he would recommend that location RS as one upon which a sugar factory can be built driving on to the railroad crossing near tile the feed sheds of mr air george craghead a stop was made and that location was pointed out as another propos proposed cd site but mr all austin frankly stated that lie he would not recommend it as it was altogether unsuitable for a su sugar gar factory site this eliminated that location so the party drove on an to the cement plant and turn turned ed west half had a mile where another good site was accepted by the sugar company officials as one propos proposed cd tor for tile the location of tile the new sugar factory and in the course of 0 the conversation mr air austin admitted that there were four sites in ill al under consideration one west of houeye honeyville Houe ile one west of harper both or of which i are near dear the riv river er and creek one west of the cement plant and one near this city the advantages of the various localities were discussed freely but ol of course tile the sugar company officials would not intimate which they favored mar cutler left for los angeles on friday and will return to salt lake on an the mr austin stated that the site committee ot or the sugar company officials will immediately take up the matter of the location for the new factory and will make a visit to the proposed bites and see for themselves the lay of the land ile he stated that active work on the construction of the factory must begin very shortly and said that tile contractors have the steel ready lor for shipment now all they are waiting for is to be told to which point r they shall make shipment there are advantages at each site which will exercise an influence in its favor when being co considered by tile committee and the 13 inal final selection will ulim udon tile the matter of tile the greatest and most advantages which one particular site has to offer I 1 during this week engineer pratt and mr lewis are making a survey atthe ct the various sites and taking options on the lands in order to have everything la in readiness to present to tile the site committee next week |
