Lady Elks elect new officers The Tintic Ladies of Elks held their installation of New Officers for the year 20022003 on March 19th. Diane Elliott is our new President Elect with the following elected officers: Vice Seniors enjoy meeting here President Grace Condcr called the meeting to order and Alice Fox asked the blessing on the food at the Young at Hearts luncheon on June 5 featuring a variety of salads. After the pledge of allegiance to our flag, wc sang God Bless America; then Happy Birthday to Dorothy Allinson, Laura McInt)Te, and Bill Stewart. Wc were glad for the report that Georgia Laid and LaVem Holcman arc home from the hospital. The minutes and the treasurers reports were read and Leah Towers has approved. a, discount cards for sale for with the proceeds gong toward buying hams for funerals. Grace reminded us to sign up for the Senior Citicn of the Year Dinner for the Bernini's, I p m. on June 22nd. The caterers will a prepare roast beef dinner with banana cream pic for dessert. The meal will be paid for by the club. The laughs for the day were provided by the reading of ridiculous REAL classified ads. Chuck-O-Ram- President - Georgia Ewell, Karen Baum, Treasurer Secretary - Linda Turner, Chaplain - Vickie Stakcr, Historian - Kathy Sparrow, Trustees - Paulette Carpcrtcr, Janice Boswell, and Shcrlin Grill, Decorating Committee Chairman -- Judy Smith, Entertainment Food and Committee Chairman - Lana Rae Laird, State Board Member - Paulette Carpenter, and Project Chairman, Judy Smith. The decorations for the Installation were done in red, white, and blue and very' patriotic in remembrance of the September 1 1,2001 tragedy' and also in honor of our great nation. Shirlin Grill, past Tintic LOE President installed our new officers in a very impressive ceremony, in which the candles were also very patriotic. The dinner w as catered by Linda's Cafe serving pork roast with all the trimmings. President Diane expressed her appreciation and thanks for her officers and committees, as well as her enthusiasm for the upcoming year. At the regular meeting of the city' council, the motor cross was discussed. Council Member Bob Pagnani inquired if it would be possible for Fred and Lynn to start plowing weeds for the motor cross. Council Member J ay Evans said that he understood that the city was only responsible to donate the property' and that the community members would do the rest of the w ork. Pagnani said that he feels that we need to cither begin working on the property' or not. Seventy- - Historical society lets meetings slide The Tintic Historical Society' has been so busy' with the Museum that we have let our meetings slide. Before we notice, the meeting date has slipped right past. The activities that arc keeping us occupied include a tour on June 1", that many in the community Gordon Obom, helped with. formerly of Eureka, gathering a group interested in our area and scheduled a bus tour. They toured the Methodist and Catholic churches, the Elks building (where Dr. Obom had his office), and the jail at the City Hall. They toured the Historic Mining District and finished up with hamburgers at the park. A planned hike to the T w as rained out. The work on the property around the Depot has made a great five people showed up to the meeting and wanted it and I feel we need to cither do it or not, After some Pagnani said. it was decided that discussion, more involvement from the community members that want it would be vital if it was ever going to happen. It was brought up the Glen Wilde requests his road to be changed from Campbell to Wilde and the council voted to tabic it until he cither attends the council meeting or writes a letter explaining his reasons. Water restrictions were discussed as reported in last weeks Eureka Reporter and a public meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 26 at 6:30 to give residents the p.m. opportunity to give their input on when restrictions should be. Please plan on attending. The Mayor told the Eureka Reporter that 2 HEPA vacuums have been donated to the city for HEPA use by the residents. lead clean vacuums arc required to dust out of your house effectively. Contact the city if you wish to use a vacuum. Baseball games set for week Dont forget to come out and Thursday. June 27 support our kids at their little league games this week. There arc bake sales at nearly every game and money will go towards trophies for the kids. Please come out and support the baseball 5 p.m. Eureka Goshen 2 Mustane Lcaeuc-Eurck- a Rockets program. Games this week arc as follows: Raptors improvement. Displays arc being planned to further tell the story' of our history . Museum visitors keep coming which wc love and for whom wc like have a presentable almosplicrc. Wc have had some electrical work done and the windows wc talked about in an earlier Reporter. Wc still have not to rescheduled our rummage sale, but w ill keep y ou posted. The Picnic in the Park is still planned for July 1 ()' may be w e ll be all caught up for that one.
