Sandy Evans, Mabel Butler, Virginia Randle, Leah Towers, and Edna Jasper were the cooks. Margaret Fennell gave the invocation. President Grace Conder conducted the business meeting, beginning with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and the song, God Bless America. A thank you note from Carol Gourley was read (she is recouping in Arizona). Also, Roy Gourley is home, recuperating well. Elks award scholarships Tintic Elks Lodge The minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer s reports were read. The date and time for honoring Joe and Grace Bernini as Senior of Citizens of the Y car will be 1 pm., Saturday, June 22nd. The caterer needs to know' how many plan to attend. Casey Wahlbcrg from the 6,h Grade was given the Principal's Award the week of May 6lh for Excellence in Academics and Responsibility! Casey has had surgery and been out several days this year, however she and her parents have constantly checked on her work and she has completed everything. She excels and is a wonderful student and asset to the school. She is the daughter of Glen and Patricia Wahlbcrg. All-Arou- Fliers for the Ncphi Health Fair on Saturday from 9am to noon were on the front table with a sign up sheet for use of the van. Emily Openshaw and Robin Sherwood each received a $230 Justin Gourley and Danny Young received student athletes of the year. Exalted ruler award winners were: Academic Student of the Year, Danny Young; Most Improved Student, James Sweat; and Citizen of the Year, Eric scholarship. Jeff Smart (on ladder) and Luke Humphries from Phils Glass in Tooele installed the storm windows at the Depot. The windows were the last project the Tintic Historical Society completed with the grant monies provided by the Utah State Legislature through the Office of Museum Services last year. The historical society is very fortunate to have received this grant. It enabled them to do projects way beyond their budget. Next time your pass by the Depot, take a look at the new windows. The beauty of them is that you really don't see them. The new roof and window s should be a lasting improvement and hopefully a savings on energy. Swim lessons to The Eureka PTO will be sponsoring swimming lessons next month. They will run 2 weeks. The weeks of June 17th and June 24. The cost is approximately $30 for advanced swimmers and $23 for all others. The bus will leave at 8 a.m. and arrive home by lunch start time. Free fishing Sat., June 8 Emily Openshaw (Left) and Robin Sherwood (Right) received a Elks Scholarships awarded by Troy Jones (center). Fishing waters throughout Utah should see plenty of anglers Sat., Jun. 8, as the Division of Wildlife Resources marks Free Fishing Day in Utah. People will not need a fishing license to fish in the state that day. All other regulations found in the 2002 Utah Fishing Proclamation will be in effect. "Were trying to attract people to fishing by having a free day," says Tom Pettengill, sport fisheries coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources.
