For a school district the size of our district this amount of short fall in moneys planned for the school year could be Me (OTOIT catastrophic. However, in checking with Tintic School District Staff we were informed that the school board, superintendent and staff had an emergency reserve fund set aside for this type of problem. We were informed that this amount of shortfall will be covered by the reserve fund. We applaud the school district and all involved for being able to handle this type of problem. We also say that the children living in the Tintic School District will get the education they deserve this year because of the actions of all those involved in the operations of our school district. To all of you involved with the operations of our school district we say thanks. We also ask you to get after those people at the state level of school finance to do a better job so we can run our school district with financial confidence. Towers chauffeured the bus, others traveled in their own cars with family and friends. All of us enjoyed a dinner at Mickelson's Cafe. We decided to meet the flame up the canyon where it entered the area and they were setting off the fireworks. We were fortunate to find parking facing the highway, so we could stay in the warm car if we wanted to. (It was very cold!) However, when the flame arrived, everyone was out on the sidew alk receiving their I saw the flame We got excited as we flags. the first runner light his watched torch from the special truck carrying the flame. We also got to sec the fireworks. Special cars led the torch runner down the highway and then four Sheriffs trucks side by side followed. It was quite the Stic! We went back to our bus and followed the procession down wavering our flags to the crowds lining the streets. We felt like we were part of the parade until main street, then reality set in. As the group in front was allowed to turn north to the park, we were ushered straight to the next street. The parade was over for us, but it was great fun and we had the satisfaction of knowing we played a part of the Olympics. This was our second Olympic trip. In January, several of the group went on a bus tour of the Olympic venues in Salt Lake and Park City. We came hone by w ay of Hcber and stopped at a Olympic store where we bought Olympic pins and other memorabilia. Coming home it snowed, and the readers were dangerous, but our bus driver delivered us safely to Payson where we found our cars and returned home. A great day was had by all!
