Utah Weather history August 23: In 1951, lightning struck a barn in Payson, killing a horse. In 1977, a fire captain in Salt Lake was hit by lightning .. while on a roof. In 2000, two firefighters under a tree were killed by lightning in the Stansbury Mountains. In 2003, a major flash flood damaged homes in Tropic. Valley has received precious few thunderstorms and the assock ; microbursts this year. Some may remember the thunderstorm which produced such winds in southwest Provo on strong straight-lin- e August 1, 2006. The peak gust recorded at the Provo Airport reached at least 92 mph before the weather station lost powers On May 31, 1994, a line of severe weather moved from south to north across Utah. The goal will be to cut down goals allowed (44 total), especially in the second half. UV gave up 16 first half goals compared to 28 in the second half. This year it's (tournament) at Longwood (University) so I would expect that we would play them again in the cham-- . pionship game. Another thing we would like to do is improve our out-o- f conference record. Weve got to establish ourselves as a strong team in the state and in the Mountain West. The Wolverines will get a chance to do that soon. They will play the third and final exhibition game against Dixie State today before opening the season at home against North Dakota on -- - Slept. 30.
