SCOUTING DIFFERENCE "The Scouting Difference", one of the first motion pictures ever completed by Brigham Young University students in conjunction with the BYU Media Production Studio, had its premiere showing this week to friends of scouting. Jesse Stay, studio director, said the color film is a documentary-styl- e ( movie which reports on the accomplishments and activities of the Boy Scouts in the Utah National Parks Council. It took more than a year for students in the Theatre and Cinematic Arts Department to write the script, direct and shoot the scenes, compose the music and edit the film into a final product. The project was initiated by Professor Tad Daniel-ewsk- i. "Since the studio has been in operation for years, nearly 28 hundreds of students have worked on movies," Stay said. "But this is one of the first produced almost entirely by them-w- ith counsel and expertise from studio personnel and Prof. Danielewski." Narrated by popular KSL radio announcer, Danny Kramer, the film expands the whys and wherefore of scouting. It graphically illustrates the importance of three basic scouting objectives for young men: physical fitness, character development and citizenship training. ' "The film shows that scouting is a lot more than just fun and games. It's a program in which everyone is a winner, it can and does make a difference in the lives of young men and that it deserves the active support of adults in Scouting executive Bob Oswald receives ovation from appreciative audience several national parks, and has one of the highest ratios of youth enrollment and Eagle Scout successes in the both time and nation. money," Stay observed.
