Hunters who can't participate in Utah's 1999 big game hunts may earn a bonus point by completing an application and listing the correct bonus point species code found at the bottom of page 47 of the 1999 Utah Dig Came Proclamation. To earn a bonus point hunters must complete their application correctly. and include a $3 handling fee. Applications must be received at the address listed on the application, through the mail or an overnight mail service, no later than S p.m. Allowing hunters to cam a bonus point, even w hen they can't participle in a hunt, allows them to keep up with the rest of the applicants who are applying," said Judi Tutorow, wildlife licensing coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources. It allows them to maintain the relative bonus pint status for that speies, she said. Tutorow reminds hunters that they may not apply for a bonus pint if they're under a waiting priod or, for any other reason, may not legally apply in the draw. The earning of bonus ptints has grown in importance since 1997, when the Utah Wildlife Hoard voted to allocate 30 preent of available limited entry and hunting prmits to those with the greatest number of bonus pints. Under the present system, SO preent of the total prmits for a particular hunt are allocated to those applying for that hunt, who have the greatest number of bonus pints. After the fust SO preent of the prmits have been allocated, the remaining SO preent of the prmits are allocated through a random draw process. All applicants for that hunt, who haven't yet been selected for a prmit, are entered in the draw for prmits.
