In Summit County, there are 36 precincts with 16,759 registered voters and during Election 1998, only 7,967 ballots were cast with 75 absentee ballots. Ibis shows a voting percentage of 47.54 . Results from Summit County are as follows. 724 voters showed their support for the Republican party by voting the straight party ticket with 624 voting straight party Democrat, 50 for the In American party and 10 for the Libertarian Party. In the US Senate Race, Robert Bennett received 3,968 votes, Scott Leckman received 3,473 votes and Gary R. Vanhorn-2- 3 1 votes. Chris Cannon easily took Summit Countyi votes for US Representative District 3 with 3,990, followed by Will Christensen with 1441 and Kitty Burton with 1,096. Jerry Romero took the lead with 2,870 votes over Beverly Evans with 1,878 and Steve Sady with 241 in the State Senate District 26. David Ure won with 3,921 over Greg Miners' 3,762 votes, in the State Rep district 53. The entire proposed project is a huge undertak- ing, according to Staff Planner, Leslie Burns, there is 325,000 square feet of hotel and conference space, 9,000 square feet of commercial retail and 80,000 square feet of underground parking, With its unique design, the building boasts a height of 9 stories, stepping to seven and then 5 stories. The building is located South of die existing Gondola base and is part of die overall resort cen- u ter.
