The humorous aspects of Mulder and Scullys relationship are also boosted in the movie. Mulders dry humor and quick wit make for some very funny moments, relieving some of the tension the rest of the events thrust onto audiences. As with some of the finer details of the film, however, newcomers may miss some of the more subtle jokes. The effects are far superior to those on the series also. The costumes, props, and set designs are amazing, lending plausibility to the otherwise outlandish possibilities. And the ending...Wow. When the sinister Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis ) is flown in and discusses the possible vaccination to the deadly plague, light is thrown on the entire situation, but so are more shadows and even more questions. When Mulder and special agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are finally introduced, it is done in such a way that any fan of action thrillers . could enjoy. The FBI agents are helping search for a terrorists bomb planted somewhere inside a government building in Texas. Of course Mulder stumbles onto the bomb, and he and Scully are barely able to make it out of the building before it explodes. As the FBI tries to place blame, Mulder is greeted by an informant that tells him the episode was much more than a terrorist act. Slowly but surely Mulder and Scully are drawn into the conspiracy, discovering the truth about the black oil, alien colonization, and the governments involvement with it alL Just like the tegular series, the movie hasitalL And more. The secrets are revealed one at a time in intriguing ways forcing audiences to the edge of their seats, wondering whats next. The more Mulder knows, the more tense the film becomes.
