The Summit County Bee Friday, May 12, 1995 School News ISortH Summit North and South Summit USU Honor High School Graduation Students Announced Nights Announced The North Summit High School which will be held at 8 p.m. in the graduation will be held on school gym on Friday, May 26. Thursday, May 25, beginning at 7:30 p.m. In a change from previous years, the commencement will takd place in the school gymnasium. Speaker for the graduation ceremonies will be Doug Toole. Decorations, for the setting will include the placement of 60 mums in purple, yellow and white, which will be available for sale on a basis. You can reserve yours by calling Julie at the high school at South Summit graduates will be honored on their graduation day First-co- first-serv- ed 336-363-6. Honor students will be the featured speakers. A dance for any wishing to attend will be held following graduation. Drug-Fre- e parties will be held at both schools to allow the students to have good, clean fun with lots of good food, prizes and activities involved. The graduates will have this time to bid a fond farewell to fellow students in a fun atmosphere and recall memories made and make plans for their futures. Good luck and best wishes are extended to the 1993 high school graduates. Good job. Students on the winter quarter honor roll at Utah State University have been announced by Val R. Christensen, vice president for student servies. A student must carry 13 or more credit hours and earn a 3.3 or better grade point average to achieve honor roll. From Park City: Lucille Ann Reyes, Education, and Wysteria Woolf, Engineering. Middle School Talent Show May 4, the North Summit Middle School held a talent show for all the students. Twenty eight different students were in the talent show. They did different things like: singing, dancing, clogging, and one group even did a puppet show. Many of the students did piano solos, and a couple groups did skits. One student played an electric guitar and sang while playing. Also, a sixth grade music class played ukuleles while two teachers, two students, and the principal danced with funny looking costumes on and pretended they were brushin their teeth. The funniest part for the students was seeing their own principal up on stage with red yam pigtails. rrs 7W3: There was a request for all the teachers to go up and sing the alphabet and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." That was probably the funniest part and the most laughed at. All this students did a great job. Congratulations, Cougars. Teaching Your Kids To Garden With Garbage The longer days and warmer temperatures are likely to lure young children outside. This is a good time to get them involved in the parsnips. 2) Seeds from lemons, manges and grapefruit are often discarded and ignored as actual seeds that produce plants: These of course are not suitable for the Utah climate, but the seeds can be sprouted in pots and. transplanted to the garden for the summer. 3) Garlic plants can be easily gardening process. Gardening teaches valuable scientific concepts to young children according to Dr. Shelley Lindauer, early childhood development specialist in the Utah State University College of Family Life. Children can learn about life cycles, how sunlight and water nourish plants and comparison skills. Lindauer says the part of food Utah Valley State College is now accepting registrations for summer term classes being held in both Park City and Heber City. Evening classes area available for students working towards a degree in business or behavioral science or for students who wish to complete their general education require- An interesting experiment for young children is to plant carrot seeds side by side with the carrot sprouts so they can compare growth.
