Last year they answered 130 calls. In the past four days they have answered six calls. As summer approaches, EMTs become much busier due to the increase of activity in our area. They are available on a standby basis at rodeos, athletic events, etc. They have two crews, and each crew is on call every other week. To contact an EMT for services, . Dial 911, where your call will be dispatched through the Summit County Sheriffs Dispatch. Our community EMTs provide training for our community, as they instruct various groups in First Aid, CPR, and other lifesaving measures. They have taught Young Women groups, Scouts, school classrooms, and Relief Society groups. To become an EMT, a basic course of 120 hours must be taken. EMTs must recertify every two of years by taking instruction. Most of the advanced level recertification is given through Wasatch County Hospital, but the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, does pro48-hou- rs vide some programs for recertifica- tion. Its tartness and texture improve many sauces, cake icings and sweet-sou- r dishes, and combine well with strawberries and citrus fruits. Rhubarb is very low in calories only 56 to the pound. Of course we are always adding heaps of sugar to most recipes. Rhubarb contains some valuable minerals (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium) as well as some important vitamins (folic acid, niacin, pantothenic acid, riboflavin and thiamine). Rhubarb is at its best in the early spring but yields edible stalks, if regularly harvested, almost until the first frost arrives. Just leave a few stalks to nourish the roots. Rhubarb's reputation has been tarnished by our tendency to overcook it. The stewed mush that has paraded as rhubarb sauce isn't the way to eat rhubarb. The information above and the recipe fra Ricky's Upside Downers were taken from a book entitled Rhubarb Renaissance by Ann It has 155 pages of rhubarb recipes, a lot of which are very unique.
