Man has succeded in this by the invention of the bicycle. The bicycle is the most efficient machine that man has ever built. For the amount of energy you have to put into the bike, you get a big return back. Bicycling has just now entered to state of transportation in Utah. As in many other countries, bikes are being used for communting between home and work. Many businessmen are finding the exercise to be very bcnifical. There are basically three kinds of bicycles, mountain bike, street bike, and the bikes you had as a kid. Mountain bikes arc a new craze. Many people like them because of their off road capability. They have wider tires than usual that help in balancing the bike on ruff roads. The frame is a little wider and heavier. This does make the bike a bit heavier than a street bike; however, mountain bikes need this extra ruggedness to combat the abuse they gcL Another feature of the mountain bike is its low gearing. This makes it expccially helpful when going up steep hills. The second type of bicycle, street bike, is most popular amoung bicycle racers. These bikes are supper light They weigh only a couple of pounds. The have very thin tires and a higher gearing ratio than the mountain bike. These bikes are faster than what you might think possible on a bike. Dirt bikes, the third kind, arc very popular amoung young kids. These bikes have fat tires. These bikes arc also very heavy.
