Coalville kids are enjoying a good ice skating rink located next to the City Hall on Main Street in Coalville. The rink was prepared by the city several weeks ago to help provide some winter fun for the community. Groups and individuals are welcome to use the rink any time. Fifteen Echo Mountain doggers were able to dance at two rest homes in Heber on Dec. 28. They clogged at both the Wasatch County Long Term Health Care Center and the Heber Valley Care Center. They were also privileged to be the entertainment for one of the patient's 100th birthday party. McDonald's on the way home. Eight couples from Upton enjoyed a New Year's Eve party at the home of Tom and Jill Boyer. The activities consisted of eating, playing games, and just having fcn. The J.W. Ovard family met Jan. 2 for a family party at the Henefer church. Aboiut 60 people enjoyed eating and playing games of basketball and ball. volley- Leena Ovard, daughter of Brent and Cheryl Ovard, and Tara Butler, daughter of Dick and Judy Butler, both of Henefer, were able to attend the Ambassador Teen Retreat at Bear Lake Dec. They had a great time learning leadership skills and ideas to help make work better in the county. Melanie Leavitt of Kamas, was 4-- H Young men and their leaders in Coalville 2nd Ward went to 29-3- 1. 49th Street Galatia for an activity Dec. 29. After enjoying a fun activity there, they stopped at 4-- H the other youth representative from Summit County. Brent and Cheryl Ovards family have enjoyed a holiday visit from their former Indian placement student. Anita James, who is from Brimhall. New Mexico, stayed about a week with the Ovards. Several baptisms and con- firmations were held for North End children in the LDS Church Jan 2 and 3. Two children from Henefer 1st Ward received these ordinances. Shawn Kearl, son of Steve and LuAnn Kearl, was baptized by his dad Sat. and confirmed by him Sunday. Holly Ann Ovard, daughter of Brent and Cheryl Ovard, was baptized by her daid Sat. and confirmed by him Sunday. From Coalville 1st Ward, Dee Stalev. son of Brent and Linda - Staley, was baptized by his grandfather, Dean Braithwaite, Saturday and confirmed by him on Sunday. Maclaine Hamilton, son of Steve and Diana Hamilton, Coalville 2nd Ward, was baptized by his grandfather Saturday and confirmed by him Sunday. Casey Workman, daughter of Fred and Cynthia Workman, was baptized and confirmed by her grandfather Saturday. Tyson Wright, son of Tony Wright and Cindy Oliver, was baptized and confirmed by Tony Saturday. Several babies were.blessed in LDS wards Jan. 3: Shawn LeRoy Trussell, son of Jim and Lindora Trussell, Henefer 1st Ward, was blessed by Bishop Ted Boyer. In Coalville 1st Ward, the twin baby daughters of Larry and Lois Kristine and DanMcQueen ielle were blessed by their father. Justin Earl Judd, baby son of Russell and Lorilee Judd, was blessed by his father. Ashley Sue Potter, baby daughter of Jeff and Laura Potter, was blessed by her father in the Coalivlle 2nd Ward. In Hoytsville 2nd Ward, the infant son of Russell and Sue Hortin was blessed by his father. Hoytsville 1st Ward has a new Young Men's presidency. Jerry Pace is the new president with Mark Dueshler as first counselor and Doug Geary as second counselor. Steve Twiss was sustained as cubmaster in the Henefer 1st Ward Jan. 3 to serve the two Henefer packs. Coalville 1st Ward has a new Primary presidency. Sharia Banz is the new president with Carina Bell as first counselor, Becky Allen as second, and Anita Lewis as secretary. They were sustained Jan. 3. Hoytsville 2nd Ward says to Howard and Cathy Petersen and their family who are in the process of moving to Phoenix, AZ. Get well wishes are extended to seven year old Kimberly Curtis of Upton, who is recovering from surgery. Sinccter sympathy is extended to the family of Fred Richins of Echo. Fred died Jan. 3. 1988. With luck she will return to Park City as a member of the Olympic Team that will train at Jeremy Ranch prior to competing at Calgary. A fund has been set up to help Roxanne Toly with expenses of participating at the Olympic tryouts. The Oakley Wards Relief Society held their homemaking meeting Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was on microwave cooking. Our condolences are expressed to Earl and Ramona Stevens of Oakley, for their loss. Ramonas niece, Deanne Behrman Mazziot-ti- , of Vernal, Utah, passed away Dec. 23, 1987, after a lingering illness. Surviving her are her husband, John Mazziotti and their children: Dylan, Barton, Jordan and Caprice. Ramona is caring for Caprice at her home for a while. ' Venesha Tatton of Marion, was baptized in the Marion Ward Jan. 2, 1988. She was confirmed by her father, John Tatton, on the same date. Jo Ann Peterson of Marion, tells us her children, Ray and ' tip Kristie, joined with Jeff and Nan, took a holiday for the new year down to Mazatlan, Mexico. The Baptist Community Church announced the women will be attending the monthly meeting of the Evangelical Camping Association, Jan. 7. The Evangelical Camping Assoc, are in the process of leashing property at the Devil Slide area, to establish a summer camp for children in the surrounding areas. The women of the Baptist Community Church will be meeting Wednesday to decide on the upcoming calendar of events for their Women's League. Throughout the year the women will meet once a month for a Bible study. Then once a month for a friendship outing. They wish to extend an invitation to any of the women in the community who would like to attend. The Winterton family of Woodland were happy to receive n word that Mrs. Beatrice has received the Spirit of Utah Cattlemen's Award. This took place at the last Cattlemen's Meeting of 1987. Sincere sympathy to those in the valley who have lost loved ones over the holidays. Mr. Bill Darcey and family of Kamas. Bill's brother passed away. Mrs. Taahna France, formerly of the Kamas Valley, died. She has a sister, Mrs. Ruth Crittenden, who lives in Oakley, and many friends and relatives here in the valley. She was especially found of her aunt, Mrs. Emily McCormick, who was just like a sister to her. We certainly don't wish to miss anyone who is bereved and would especially appreciate a call to inform us of this type of news. Mr. Pete Mitchell is at the long term care unit at the Hcoer City hospital as well as Mrs. Mac Olsen. Mrs. Ruby Louder is now home from the hospital and we wish her a speedy recovery. Mrs. Sandra Shelton has been on the sick list again and we wish her well. The Kamas 2nd Ward scouts traveled to Heber City Tuesday to visit the Care Center there. They took many lovely gifts with them which were really appreciated. Kamas 2nd Ward had their homemaking meeting Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. for the ladies in the Relief Society. It was an organizing meeting" time, recipes and family files. Refreshments were served to all. Dan and Natalie Noble received a surprise package of goodies on their doorstep for Christmas from a person unknown. They would like to thank the individuals who might have left it there. Welcome back Chuck and Holly Cerricl, of Samak who are back in town. The Daily Bread provided Christmas dinner packages for 10 needy families in the valley this Christmas. It is nice that someone cares to provide Christmas cheer for those who - - 1 might otherwise be forgotten at Christmas. The Baptist Bible Community Church had a New Year's celebration Dec. 31. 7 p.m. There were many who attended. The church is located at 280 No. 100 W.. Kamas. Miss Angie S cates left Sunday afternoon with her father, Mr. Alan Scates, to travel to Arkansas where Angie will be attending Browns University. Carla Saxton told us about a friendship club she belongs to here in the valley. There are three groups organized in the area. They meet once a month to play a game called Bunko. They have five prizes they give away at the end of the night High score prize, second highest score. Bunko, low prize and a door prize. The clubs have been in existence for four years. The game is played with three dice, six frames are played. One's are rolled for, three ones are a natural Bunko. The accumulation of points one is striving for is 21 .
