Show The Summit County Bee CoahriDe, UT 84017 Friday, September 16, 1983 5A uth Summit Wildcats South Summit At tirantsville Sept. 9, South Summit traveled to Grantsville for another game of tackle, block and stack. South Summit, unfortunately came out at the first of the game cold. The Cats defense didnt play up to par, and Grantsville s offense scored 27 points in the first half. The second half was a different story and the Cats came out of the locker room ready to make up for mistakes made in the first half. The defense held the Cowboys scoreless in the second half with very little yardage and no first downs. They also got the connected pass from Mike McCormick to Craig Rydalch for the Cats score of the day. The final score was 27 to 6 for Grantsville. South Summit will be ready to meet the requirements to take us to state, starting with a win on Friday against the North Summit Braves. Kevan Todd Maria Gordon Friday, Sept. 9, S.S. Girls Tennis had their first meet of the season with Morgan, Playing first singles, Pam Woodruff played well but lost Second singles, Lisia Ruf played well with a score of Good job, Lisia. Third singles, Tammee Crittenden had a close match of almost winning. First doubles, Laura Blazzard and Kimberly Powell had a very successful march with a score of and Way to go you two. Second doubles, Jennifer Blazzard and Michelle Coon played a Better good match with luck next time. We wish the girls good luck with their mett Friday at St. Joseph. Wildcats Win Their Second v 15-1- .YyS Varsity On Sept. 6, 1983 South Rich came to South Summit to play a very .intense J.V. game of volleyball. The tension was very high in the gymnasium through the whole game. South Summit ended up winning both games with die scores being 15-- 8 and South Rich made the Wildcats earn their victory. They were a tough team to beat and played very . well. But South Summits team played so well On Sept. 6, So. Summit met a tough match. So. Rich traveled here for a tough game. The first game the Cats came out on top, with the score The second game they didnt do as well, So. The Rich won with a score of 15-last game was the toughest. The Trojans would be ahead by quite a large margin and the Cats would keep coming bade. The final score of die last game was 4 for S. together that they couldnt be stopped. This will be their third victory. Park City played the Wildcats on Sept. 8, on Wildcat territory. Unfortunately for Park City the Wildcats proved again that their team is unbeatable. South Summits victory didnt come easily. They had to play three nerve racking games. The first game was won by Park City with the score of The studentbody of South Summit High School was welcomed back to a new sohool year at the hello assembly on' Friday, Sept 2, 1983. Alisa Page and Jeff Littleford, the Studentbody chair through the cheerleaders and drill team did a dance routine to "Make It Great, afterwhich the entire studentbody sang the school song. Dr. Littleford then dismissed everyone for class. Julie Farkas Bobbi Bergstrom S.S. played Park City, Sept. 8, at 4:30 at S.S. Middle School. In the first game it was Park City But South Summit over S.S. came back in the second gaifie 15-and the third gave South Nid Summit over Park City Hendrick made high score with 9 points. Thomson also believes that the exellence focus will push of the states to establish two-thir- ds Even though teacher merit pay Dance Following the tradition of South Summit the new freshmen class was initiated into the school by singing the school song in front of the studentbody. As usual, they all tried to crowd to the back of the group, but a few lucky ones were left in front. After messing up twice, Alisa and Jeff decided that they just didn't look ready. They picked four lucky people to go up on stage: Deby Atkinson and Tamara Woodruff, Kent Woolstenhulme and Russell Thamas. They participated in hair curling and shaving contests with the help of the studentbody officers. After the freshmen were finally Varsity Volleyball 1, The hew members of FHA for this year met early Thursday the 8th for their first meeting. They got the meeting off to a start by electing the following officers: Pres. Lorraine Woolstenhulme; V. Pres. Ellen Stevens; Sec. man of entertainment, showed us a humorous slide presentation of our first week at school. Some of the studentbody were embarassed by the pictures, but it was all in fun. Maria Gordon Kevan Todd and gave the Cats quite a challenge. But the Cats pulled it off Theyre on the prowl. 6-- 3. A New Year At South Summit 16-1- . 11-1- 5. - Rich. two were won by the mighty Wildcats. The Wildcats almost shut out the Miners in the second game until one of the last saves by Park City scored their only point The last game was the most gruelling of them all. Park Citys team started playing well again 6-- 1. 6-- 4, it a awb,: J.V. 7-- 6, 6-- 4, some type of examination system for people entering the teaching states profession. The dance was held at the South Summit Middle School from 9:00 to 11:30. Although this gym is larger than what we are used to, it was still full. We had the Sound Connection do the music, and they played great variety with their own strobes and lights which everybody enjoyed. They had games and gave away many records. Lanae Atkinson and her date won a prize for the best dancers.
