Thacker with them up the the Hardware Ranch for the dedication or a flagpole in honor of Irin "Bibo" Turnbow on Sat. Kent and Barbara Nisonger and Beth traveled down to Heber to witness the blessing of their niece Suriali Christine, daughter of Greg and Shari Nisonger. Mr. and. Grace Turnbow traveled to Salt Lake where she stayed the night with Barbara. That night they went over to Grace's daughter Beverly where they were treated to a lovely supper. Grace arrived back home early Sunday evening. Algie Anderson traveled up to see her daughter on Sat., Mrs. Beth Jacobsen and granddaughter Becky Judd who just recently had a baby. Katherine and Leland Prescott along with Geo and Algie Anderson traveled to Provo Sunday to have dinner at the a and do some shopping. The Glade Carpenters of Kays-vill- e were here visiting with the Merl Carpenters this past week. The boy scouts in Kamas Ward resented the program for the ' Sacrament meeting on Sunday. Those who took part were Adam Leavitt. Ralph Page, Clay Angell, Mike McCormick, Detain Atkinson. Brent Gines. Steve Atkinson, Tyler Page and then Ralph McCormick summed up what the scout program is doing and talked about how the scouts were doing such a good job. Mary Hoyt played a piano solo for the musical number. Several people have been called to new jobs in the Ward. They are LaRetta Van Tassell as the new spiritual living teacher, Tessa Butler as Homemaking leader, Marjorie Lemon as Sewing Specialist and Donna Ottosen as Home Specialist. Lydia Management Carpenter is the new secretary of the MIA and Oletta Lambert has been called to be the choirister of the Relief Society. Congratulations to all. Jim lire was advanced to the office of a priest and Brett Davis graduated from primary and was ordained a deacon. Calif, is spending a few weeks visiting with her brother Lee McMichael and family. Jim and Florence Hunter visited in Salt Lake Sat. with their dear friend Hazel Rerward. As the Hunters were returning home from the viewing of Mrs. Eliza McQueen Sunday night, they had the misfortune of hitting a deer causing damage to their car. Vaughn and Afton Dearden and family visited Sunday with her mother. Mrs. Vivian Brown. Mrs. Brown returned to their home in Orem to spend a few days with them. Jim and Florence are very happy about the arrival of two new great grandchildren. Their grandson. Frank, and Becky Judd had a little girl Tuesday. April 8 at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. She weighed 8 pounds. .1 ounce and this little miss is the couple's first child. Their granddaughter. LuAnn and Manuel Downard had a little boy Monday. April 14. born at the Heber Hospital and weighing 7 pounds. 9 ounces. 20 inches long. He is LuAnn's and Manuel's first child. A family dinner in honor of Lee McMichael for his birthday by his wife Norma. The day was spent eating, visiting and just enjoying each other's company. The speaker was Carl T. Ovard, then brother and sister Brown gave a few remarks. Kamas Rex and Margaret Walker spent their vacation traveling. They stayed in St. George and then traveled on through northern Arizona from Kingman to Four Corners. From there they went to Kirkland, New Mexico to see Gary and Cindy. They ended their trip by spending Friday and Sat. with Lynn and Carolyn of Roosevelt and coming home Sat. Mick and Marvel Stevens traveled down to Heber Sat. to have dinner. This past week the Dave Ures had some house guests visiting with them from Pennsylvania. They were Allen Lee and Melinda Stoltfus of Honey Brook, Penn. While here they visited with Kendall and Joyce Rockhill and Ed and Cathy Sorenson who took them on a snowmobiling trip along the Weber River. The Glen Hale family were in Salt Lake Sunday visiting their old Ward there and to hear their son Glen's homecoming. Sally Gines underwent surgery this past week. We'd all like to wish her the best of a speedy recovery. Happy to report that Bclva Vernon came home Sunday after spending over three weeks in the at College. Virgil is an accountant and Judy works at the Moana Company in Park City. Heather Hutchinson wore a blue and white checked pant suit; Elizabeth Boyer a beautiful dress; Jackie Smith wore a bright pink valuer (op with white pants. Daniel played several violin pieces and Jackie played the piano. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Woolstcn-hulmCasscy, Emmy Lu and Corey McQueen attended the hunting dogs field trails at Cedar Fort Saturday. Scott's hunting dogs were there. Mr. and Mrs. David Bates and boys spent the Easter holidays in California. While, there they visited Disncylpnd. spent two days at the home of her sister Wendy, enjoyed the Easter egg hunt at the park in Brea; Easter Sunday was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Ferrier where they enjoyed a delicious dinner. Friday our community was saddened to learn that 93 year old Mrs. Annice Young had a bad fall and broke her left hip. She was taken to the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake where she had surgery Sat. morning. At this writing. Mrs. Young is improving. We wish her and the Henry Pace family the best of luck. Vivlia Grover of Ogden was a Friday visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Young. Easter Sunday was a happy day c. hospital. Todd Sahlecn of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at the home of Roland and his grandparents. Marie Sahleen. George Smith and Bonnie Jorgensen visited with Charlie Smith Thursday evening at the Veteran's Hospital. Visiting with him Sal. were Florinda Darccy and Florence and Jackie Smith. Mrs. Kelly Whiting and family of Roy spent the past week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Siddoway. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Robinson visited in Salt Lake Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Kinsey. June is recovering from a fall. Mrs. Joe Walton and Nick of Hoytsville were Sunday afternoon visitors at the home of Boyd and Noretta Petersen. Elsie Petersen, Fawn Smith and Hope Pace attended the Open House Wed. evening in Coalville for Lorea Blonquist. Marion very happy birthday to Rowdey Lewis. Trica Rockhill, Elmer Olsen, Blaine Cossey, Kathy Jepsen. Scott Edrington, and a very special birthday wish goes out to one of our missionaries, Sister Winnie Andrus in Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Olsen had a very busy week. On Wed., 16 members of their family met to help Elmer celebrate his birthday. On Friday the Standleys of Heber City had a belated birthday dinner A with them, and on Sunday, Elmer and Mac joined Gene and Louise Vernon and Louise's sister, Ona, for dinner at the Chicken Inn. Mr. and Mrs. Brain Harkness and family had a very nice dinner of steak and lobster with Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wilde of Kamas and on Sunday they had a nice dinner with Brain's family. Miss Linda Huff, Mrs. Margaret Kcc and children and Mrs. Sandy Sutherland and Jessica spent spring vacation traveling and sightseeing. They traveled to Yucatita, Calif, and there they visited with Linda's parents. They then traveled to Tijuana, Mexico. Then up to San Diego where they visited the zoo, Wild Animal Park, Knoxbcrry Farm. Disneyland and the beach. They reported the trip to be very enjoyable. The Lambert Lewis family traveled to Provo where they visited the Life Science Library and did some shopping on Thursday. Mrs. E.D. Shears from Basingstoke, England has been visiting with the Robert Sargent family of Marion. She has been here for four weeks. The family has had a very nice visit with their grandmother, LaNct's mom. There will be MIA Volleyball for the Rhodes Valley Ward on Tuesday at 7:30pm. Mr. and Mrs. Don Jepsen and family visited with the Keith Melville family on Sat. in Provo. While there they attended the Orem pagent. Jan Peterson and Linda Weller t week drove up to Logan and spent three days having a very fine time visiting with Joan Weller. Jan Peterson, Linda Weller, LuGene McNeil, Eve Watson, LuDean McNeil, Penny Lewis, Ruth Park and JoAnn Peterson drove down to the Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake to see Sally Gines who is recovering from surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Cossey have been visiting with Blain's this-pas- when their house burned down, so while their house was being rebuilt they moved to Montreal, Canada for a year. Virgil and Judy met while both were students at Westminister Hospital. He is no recuperating there. There will be a for the Seminary program held at the Kamas Stake house on April 20 at 7:00pm. All parents are encouraged to attend with the future students. The fee for next year will be S6.00. The Primary will be putting on the program for the Sacrament meeting on April 27. They invite all to attend. There were 30 members of the Relief Society that attended the Homemaking Day April 2. The classes that were taught were Making Pillow Cases from Checks, Decorated Plastic Cartons, Owl Note pads, a quilt and making homemade noodles. The menu for the lunch was noddle soup and cake. Family Preparedness is to be stressed- for the next two months and literary and education. We are encouraged to study the scriptures daily, read good bdoks, use local libraries, the bookmobile, take bourses available through the schools, take advantage of job training to better our lives. The Ward Sunday School Presidency was released with a vote of thanks this past Sunday. Those released were John Blazzard President and his two helpers, Marv Mitchell and Kevin Hoyt. Sustained as the new was Brother Richard president ' Watson. His councilor will be Barrry Fitzgerald. Those released as teachers were Howard Sargent and Mike Cummings; Released as the MIA President was Lewis' Marchant. Sustained as the new president was Michael Vernon. The Ward Sacrament services were from the high priest group. Speakers were Mr. Jared Weller and Bishop Melvin Jensen. The Choir sang "Open th Gates of the Temple" and Marilyn Jepsen played a fine piaip solo. The prayers were by Lewis Marchant and Garold Atkinson.' Tommy and Margaret Thompson are going to be vacationing in New Mexico helping Tommy's brother. The Ron Creers have returned from spring vacation. They visited relatives in Spanish Fork, Mt. Pleasant and Lavan. The Larry Naks were visited by LaRean's son Scott and Scott's wife Julia. Also visiting was nephew Dcwayne and his wife Dana Butcher. The visitors were here to help LaRcan stock and arrange the ceramics store that opened Wed. in Kamas. The John Coons family traveled to Heber for the blessing of new niece Sarah Meridde's Christine Nisonger. The proud parents, Greg and Sheri Nisonger, celebrated with cake and ice cream for all afterwards. Don and Nadalccr Noble attended the excellent play "The Showoff" at the Pioneer Memorial Theatre last weekend. After the play the Nobles visited with Nadalccs mother and father. Virgil and Judy bought their house four years ago but have only lived there 3 years. They moved to Kamas in 1970 from D.C. The Washington. Nortons then moved to Samak and had only lived here a short time father, Mr. Tom Cossey, who has just had surgery at the LDS We. can handle it. - . |
