She feels this would assist the schools with their efforts to improve reading. Legislative Issues: Supt. Rowse provided the Board with a legislative update pertaining to educational funding. She feels there is need for concern in some areas of funding and said she would continue to follow the legislative decisions as they progress and would report back to diem on any issues that pertains to or would impact the school district. Other School Matters: A list of names making up the high school graduation requirement committees for Tintic High School and West Desert High, was given to Board members. They were told that while Tintic District is looking at raising the three instructors (Linda Durrant, Paula Evans and Kristin Bates) to collect data on plants, animals, geology and the historical significance of die area for production of an interactive CD-ROAll Board members approved the proposal as presented. West Desert high school students asked the Board for approval to participate in baseball next fall. The baseball field at West Desert is near completion and the high school has petitioned the district activity fund to set aside a portion of this funding for baseball uniforms and equipment. Approval was given by the Board for West Desert High students to participate in the baseball activity program. Superintendent reported that Dave Church, Applied Technology Educational Administrator for Tintic, is retiring from Millard District after this year. The Superintendent will continue to work with Millard District to fill this position in order to continue services to both districts. number of required credits for high school graduates; the State Board of Education is lookinjg at raising them as well. The schools without a junior varsity team would be organized into a separate region and these schools would not be allowed to go to State. Based on this issue, the Superintendent said she would oppose any realignment for the region.
