The consumer price index has actually gone up 20 percent, but the present contract only reads 8 percent. This would also solve the problem of garbage being dumped in the limb pile and scrap pile, as well as scavenging. Eureka City has voted to close the gate to the roll-obin, limb pile and scrap pile, except for two days per week. Eureka City was providing this service for a small fee included in the monthly garbage charge, and people were allowed in at any time. Due to this system being abused by some citizens, persons from other communities, and people passing through, using the bin without paying, and people scavenging, restrictions had to be put into place. The City Council voted to have the gate open two days per week on Fridays and Saturday's from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. With this new system, all residents currently paying for garbage pickup, will be given one card per year which allows six trips to the roll off bin, limb pile arul scrap pile. The card will expire on 123198. A new card will be issued at the beginning of the year. ff ff This picture was taken approximately 60 years ago!
