There are lour points to consider ahoul this increase, when you vote this November. One: All fire departments in the county are using old equipment and all county lire fighters need more training. Currently, llicrc is nm sufficient money to provide better equipment or training. bunding for the Special Service District would help alleviate these two problems. Two: The budget lor this district would he for fire lighting and protection only. AlliKiiiion of funds lo individual fire departments would he made hy die District Board of Directors (three of the seven members are from LurekaMammodi). Three: T he money raised by this lax increase will he used as eollaieral lor low and no interest loans lo further improve fire protection. T hese loans are avail-ablonly lo Special Service Districts. Lour: In Lureka and Mammoth especially, old equipment is gelling older mid wearing oul. This past summer severely siramcd our limited resources. Il diKsn'l lake much imagination lo see what a change of wind direction or one more large fire might have done. A public hearing will Ik held October 29, 1996, at 7: (HI p.m., in the Lureka City Council Chambers. This small properly lax increase is a good deal for all of us. Please support litis idea in November. Lureka Cily Council |
